We went for Sunday lunch...booked just half hr ago and got seated immediately up on arrival. The decor is cute and rustic, the staff are very friendly. We placed the order for drinks starters and mains all together. The starters are to die for, and I would highly recommend the crostini con gamberetti is to die for....simply delicious and fresh Prawns...it comes with Sourdough bread, we didnt alter the dish but the sauce it came with was amazingly beauitful and yummmmyyy...really was chef kiss dish. The mains we liked the Spaghetti Zucchine & King Prawns which was properly seasoned and had a nice kick to it...simple loved this one. My daughter ordered Chicken Porcini, which is sautéed chicken, porcini mushrooms in creamy sauce... I think this lacked a bit of seasoning, but I still ate it but nit heartily. My husband ordered the vegetarian pizza which was Pizza Zucca, Gorgonzal & Noci - which is Pizza with Pumpkin, Gorgonzal cheese and nuts I would have gone for a little bit sweet taste...probably need some chilli flakes and ...but beware the cheese is gooey and yummyyy this is for cheese lover they would really love it. The mango sorbet and the Torta De mele (apple pie) served with ice cream were excellent as well. Would recommend this place.

Jan 2020 - revisit which is always a positive sign....but still a bit odd. Not much change from last time. Food was good - tasty and decent portions, so would be 5 star for meal. However, service was weird again....one really friendly waiter, the other was really grumpy and rude - I think it was the same person as last time. Also a very strange smell across the whole restaurant that smelt a bit like toilets. Despite the food being lovely, I am not so sure we will return again. Jan 2019 - Good food and ambience in general. Busy on a Thursday evening in January which is positive. The service was a bit odd. We were welcomed with the greeting, 'your table is not ready (10mins early) would you like to sit somewhere else (ie by the toilets)'. Not really but we didn't have a lot of choice. Food was delivered with a slam which kids thought was v funny....weird.

A friend of ours, Antonio is the head chef there and we thought to go and visit him. It's about 20 minutes away from Cardiff city centre in Radyr. We were greeted by Chelsie, who served us most of the time we were there. Very polite, professional and courteous with all of the guests whether they came to take away or dining in. It's very much of a local restaurant and bar, where you know all the locals by name. Food was amazing and if we're in Cardiff again, will make sure to visit. 🇮🇹

I can’t remember the last time I wrote a bad review for anywhere, but Cicchetti was disappointing. The food itself was great, but the wait staff seemed uninterested and rude. As soon as we walked in, it felt like we were an inconvenience. I said “thanks” when the drinks arrived, when the food arrived and when we paid for the bill and on all occasions I was met with no response. While we were eating, I noticed the waiter playing videos loudly on his phone while he sat down, resting both his elbows on two tables either side of him.

When we had finished eating, we weren’t offered any more drinks, dessert/dolce or the bill and eventually we went up to the bar and paid. (The restaurant wasn’t busy, so I’m not sure why they couldn’t have come to us.) At the till, I tried to make conversation: the waiter smiled but the waitress just turned around and ignored me. She just completely averted her eyes. Both wait staff seemed like they had better things to do with their time - and maybe they did! - but it was a horrible, unwelcoming experience and we won’t...

It saddens me to have to write a review like this from one of the only local restaurants around here.

We had good food. But felt it was steeply priced for the quality we got. Cheese balls for starters, a few of which had no cheese in them at all sadly. That coupled with extremely poor service led me to 3 stars.

If the servers had been welcoming, we didn't have to wait 20+ minutes to order and then not get food until an hour into our visit. Along with the table next to us arriving, order and getting starters before we had even had our order taken. I would happily have given it 4 maybe even 5 stars if the food reflected the price.

The atmosphere was great. It is just such a shame we had a negative experience. Wanted it to be good, really really wanted this local restaurant to be a 5 stars. Perhaps we will go back in the future and try again, maybe we got unlucky.

I just hope our visit was a one off and next time we go...
