AVOID (especially if you have any dietary restrictions, allergies, etc). Some education about Coeliac disease for your staff: it uses a Marsh scoring system and varies in severity. If you havenât consumed the equivalent of a slice of wheat bread for 6 weeks before testing, you cannot get an accurate diagnosis. This restaurant violates clientsâ health privacy by asking if they have Coeliac disease and refusing to serve if they say yes, even if they clarify that they do not have a definitive diagnosis and have managed their condition for 14 years. I shouldnât need to stand there explaining the details of my health in an attempt to be served. The cashier that has Coeliac is not an expert and should not be condescending to customers (âI know itâs hard to not get to eat what you want, I have to pack my lunch everydayâ). Typically restaurants ask this question just to distinguish between a mild intolerance / dietary choice (where items could share deep-fryer oil that have way higher contamination levels than a shared stovetop or oven) vs a more serious issue, but they always give the âshared-kitchenâ disclaimer and allow customers to accept the risk or not. I know what questions to ask restaurants and have had 0 problems this way, anywhere else. Treat your adult customers as adults. All of that aside, took 15-20 mins standing in line behind 2 people to even (try to) place an order, so not worth it regardless.
EDIT FOR RESTAURANTâS RESPONSE (no changes to original review above): if you want evidence of their clear lack of understanding, just read their response. Celiac isnât an allergy or an intolerance, itâs an autoimmune disease. Even after explaining I was not diagnosed with it (as I couldnât test due to years of eliminating it) but am more sensitive than an intolerance so do have to ask about shared fryers / what items contain gluten like if the sausages doâŚthey refused service. Theyâre just incompetent and trying to cover their behinds at the expense of getting a clue and being reasonable. Just save yourself the annoyance and donât eat here, dietary restrictions or not- not pleasant people...
Read moreOn Sunday 17/04/16 at around 2.30 pm we visited the cafe, we had our two young grandchildren with us who were hungry. We were advised they were not serving any food as they were too busy we were offered drinks and cake! Very limited choice of cake for a 4 year old and a 2 year old we ordered drinks which took forever to arrive while waiting we overheard a man from the kitchen apologising to a couple for their very long delay in their order for food arriving!
We then overheard another customer complaining and refusing to pay due to delay in food arriving and the order being incorrect. To add salt to the wounds we were advised Ladies toilets not working to go around the back of the building and ask at the centre to use their toilet no room to change a 2 year old!
Disgusted in lack of service and facilities for families, as well as not serving food despite having a sandwich board outside advising otherwise. I shudder to think what would have happened had a coach full of people arrived as they would never of coped.
Can I point out that when we went and sat down their were only 8 people eating!!!
Make what you will of this but it will not be on my itinerary again or that of my...
Read moreThe food here is lovely and the view is just stunning. The first time we came the service was incredible so we decided to come again. Wish we hadnât. The food do not get me wrong was amazing. But over priced but itâs a popular destination so can see why they hike prices. My issue is the drinks. My friend got a Diet Coke I asked for a glass and received something that resembled a shot glass or very small tumbler. I then bought a milkshake for almost ÂŁ6. Normal price for a milkshake I thought. When I received it, it was basically just milk. I let the lady know that my milkshake had no flavour. I was told they only put one scoop of ice cream in (ÂŁ3.70 bear in mind this would cost alone) and a shot of vanilla (60p is that) and milk. It honestly tasted of just milk. She then did offer to make a new one, her face did tell me she was not happy about this and made sure I knew that she would always charge for this as it would have to be an extra scoop. Letâs be honest. i expect far...
