Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Wales

Arrived and thoguht this was a really nice new Costa, large plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Was more than happy to fill out track and trace and show proof of completion on my phone. I was then asked to provide ID for myself and my wife who did not have her ID with her. We were then told we under no circumstances could stay in. There is no notice that this is required anywhere in the store or online. No where else in Wales have I been asked to provide proof of ID to sit inside and have food and drink. Either Costa as a company is a joke or this particiular Costa is run by managers who believe it is their god given right to enforce ID checks for track and trace. I'm fairly certian this is not a legal requirement and should not be the policy. Will not return again and do not recommend going here. Also the coffee (takeaway) was...

Had to wait well over 15 minutes for a simple coffee order because the one member of staff was taking a painfully long time to make a pot of tea for someone in front of me. Lady waiting behind me was so frustrated by the wait she wanted a refund as she didn't have time to wait for a coffee and when she was at least acknowledged by member of staff was then ignored again so she left with no coffee or refund. There were 4 members of staff behind the counter maybe one in back and not one of them were even paying a blind bit of attention to any customers. It was an absolutely disgraceful bit of customer service. Too slow making order, busy chatting with each other, not paying attention to customers or at worst actively ignoring customers.

Management needs to sort this out ASAP as I see from other reviews this isn't a one off.

Positives Toilets are clean Background music is not too loud and not so quiet that you feel like you're eavesdropping on the next table's convo. For the size of the place, there is a good amount of seating, probably around 50 seats.

Negatives I ordered a slice of gingernut cake and a medium latte. The cake feels stale and tastes stale, like it was made a week ago. The latte looks like dishwasher water and doesn't taste much better either.
