We have been here sporadically over the last few years and have always loved it and had consistently good food and drinks. Our favourite thing about this place is the interesting, quirky decor and the atmosphere.
We visited post Christmas for some lunch, coffee and cake. It's an especially lovely atmosphere over the holidays with the decor there. Initially today we were slightly disappointed by the limited options of lunches, however took that back immediately when the food came because Forty Six clearly opt for doing less well!!
We had the sweet chilli chicken panini (ÂŁ8) and cawl (around ÂŁ8) The panini was extremely good and I'll be ordering it again if it's on the menu next time we go. There was a good salad with it but not too much salad! The cawl was tasty with plenty of meat and veg and a side of doorstep bread with real butter and cheese. Only thing I would say is the cawl was quite salty which made it taste great but we didn't want to give it to our daughter and probably wouldn't suit someone needing a lower salt diet!
I always order a white hot chocolate (around ÂŁ4) because it's one of the best ones I've ever had. Would definitely recommend. No complaints about the drinks all round -even the tap water was lovely and cold.
The scones went down well -warm with a generous amount of clotted cream and jam. However I opted for the Honeycomb Cheesecake (around ÂŁ3) and I can't really put into words how good it was. Very light but full of flavour, a lovely base and topped with loads of honeycomb and chocolate. I wanted it to last forever :). Definitely recommend trying it.
It's always busy in there but the decor and the layout is set up very well to absorb sound and the music is not too loud. I often struggle to hear in settings like that due to background noise but had no issues managing to have a conversation there today.
Can't fault the service. Staff were constantly busy but attentive and very polite and respectful. Dishes were cleared up promptly but not before we were all finished which I always appreciate. Manager came round to genuinely ask our opinion on the desserts as he said they like to offer what customers want and not just...
Read moreIâd heard about this independent business from a friend, I wanted to come here to see and experience this lovey cafe for myself. I came on a day when the weather was not so nice but thats Wales so to be expected.
As I entered, I was warmly welcomed to staff. There was a small queue, but staff still acknowledged me and apologised for the delay. Whilst I was waiting, I had a look around and took some photos.
I chose a table, checked out the menu and then returned to the counter and placed my order. I had a cheese and ham panini, it arrived with a delicious side salad and very tasty salad dressing. My food was piping hot, well presented and looked amazing.
The coffee shop was moderately busy, yet the staff were aware of all the customers and very attentive to their needs. After my food I went for a walk around and took some more photos.
There is a fully adapted disabled toilet downstairs. In what is called the sergeants mess. This is a small area off to the side of the main shop, it is beautifully decorated.
On leaving the main cafe and heading out into the garden, I discovered sheds that have been converted to be little seating areas that are also Harry Potter themed.
There is a ramp leading down into the garden that has handrails either side of the ramp making the garden is also wheelchair accessible. A lot of attention and thought, as well as time and effort has gone into decorating this place. Harry Potter these is prevalent throughout. For any HP fan this is a must visit.
On returning inside I passed another fully adapted wheelchair accessible toilet, this making two available on the ground floor.
The upstairs was closed so I was not able to head upstairs to see its layout or the decoration. However, from the moment I walked in I received amazing customer service; the food was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxing, and I will definitely come here again when I...
Read moreWow- what a lovely little find!! This cafe is in the centre of town and is one of the friendliest and most welcoming places I've been too. Firstly, it was spotlessly clean, the menu was vast but not overwhelming and the prices were reasonable. The staff were all very friendly and polite. I had a cappacino with amaretto syrup- omg!! Delicious!! I also tried a custard slice (a tough choice as all the cakes looked beautiful and fresh) which was really creamy and tasty. I didn't try the other items on the menu but I could see fresh foods like paninis and soups beibg served and they all looked lovely, they also cater for Vegans and GF across their menu. There was a steady flow of people but I felt I was also welcome to sit in the corner and read my book without the judgement of being expected to buy more and more coffee. They're also clear Harry Potter fans and there's a little area with some props and memorabilia which my kids would love. If you're looking for a safe, quiet, welcoming space to have a cuppa then I would highly...
