Incredibly disappointing visit for Halloween party for children. From start to finish this event was badly advertised and disorganised. Firstly, we were told after calling on the day to see if we could book tickets we could just turn up. We arrived and were told that they were fully booked. We were disappointed but decided to buy ice cream any way (spent nearly £40 on drinks and ice cream). 30 minutes after the children’s party had started we were told there was room after all. I paid the £5 per child (both under 2) and entered the marquee. This was certainly for older children and not suitable for toddlers. If the activities were not suitable for toddlers then I would rather have been told this and not attended. We had been to another Halloween party elsewhere that day that was wonderful. My granddaughter wanted her face painted but was told she was too young. The lady doing the face painting was very rude and abrupt. After this disappointment we could see the face painter speaking to another member of staff about us. This was quite intimidating and I felt uncomfortable The food choice was quite poor. Jam or ham sandwiches, crisps, jam tarts, mini sausages and chicken nuggets. Not a healthy item in sight (such as carrot sticks, cucumber etc.) Adults were bringing alcohol into a children’s party. The music was not really suitable for the children. The marquee was leaking and there were trailing wires everywhere. I was putting one of the children in the pram as she was tired, when I was aggressively confronted by what I would have thought would have been a senior member of staff asking what my problem was. She did not introduce herself so I assume this would be her position within the business. She told me I had upset members of staff because I was complaining. The concerns I had about the party was a private conversation that I had with my daughter about the disappointment of the event. Not anything I felt like sharing with any member of staff. The member of staff should not have been listening to my conversation to start with. Then the lady who was painting faces also decided to join in having a go at me. This was incredibly unprofessional and left me feeling quite shaken up and humiliated. This was a children’s party and not the place for conflict. I would have just left without saying a word to anyone about my experience other than the family members I’d attended with. We felt we then had to leave after getting into a dispute and she told me to “jog on”. If the member of staff had any issues with me she should have firstly taken me to one side and introduced herself and asked me to share my concerns in a civilised manner. I was not even given the chance to defend myself as she was shouting at me and not listening. I was a regular visitor to GG’s and have always supported them as they are local to me (15 minutes away). I even stayed with them in their rooms during lockdown when local businesses needed all the support they could get and people weren’t allowed to travel. However, now never ever wish to return. This confrontation was completely unnecessary. They were happy to take my money for an event that wasn’t suitable for our child’s age group and happy to make me feel worthless and attacked in the process. We were only there about half an hour!! Unfortunately, the way I was treated and made to feel forced me into writing this negative review. Like I previously said, I would have left quietly and not felt the need to leave negative feedback. However, after the confrontation I feel the need to warn others of what they may experience if they attend one of these events. There are plenty of other businesses in the area who put on these events that are well organised and you are made to feel welcome. We had asked upon arrival about the Christmas event and would have booked. After this experience I shall be going elsewhere and would advise any other potential customers to do so. edit I have since found out that the member of staff who accosted me was the General Manager of GG’s and...
Read moreVery clean but very disorganised. Great to have an ice cream parlour on Gower, lovely views, large, pretty garden area to sit outside and lots of free parking which is a huge plus. Visited on August Bank holiday weekend with lovely weather, so wonderful to see it so busy, but the queues were through the doors as they only have one till. Lots of staff who are helpful but stand around a lot due to the lack of till situation. Whole thing needs a really good manager to get far more slick organisation with one queue / one till for cornets and tubs for takeaways and 2nd queue for table orders / eat ins. If you want to order alcohol, you then have to order from the bar which is separate area again. They really need to get this sorted quickly before they start to get a bad reputation for service. Verdis in Mumbles would be their main competitors and they have the service side totally nailed. Ultra slick and professional. GG's, take note before you...
Read moreThe ice cream was very nice and there were loads a flavour choices, but staff were very unhelpful in regard to gluten free and coeliac disease. Tubs were not advertised as coming with a wafer and when my order arrived with one and I explained that I could not eat this the sever was extremely rude and clearly didn’t understand cross contamination as they simply wanted to remove it from the ice cream. When it was explained that this was not a possibility and that it couldn’t be eaten, because it had already touched the ice cream they simply rolled their eyes and stated that in future I need to inform them before I ordered. Perhaps you should either advertise the use of wafers to first time customers or ask them if they would like one in future. Clearly there is a lack of understanding for allergens and empathy with customers needs and they importance of...
