Tonight's meal - 21/3/2025 was way below the usual standards I've experienced here. I ordered; battered burger, small battered sausage, chips, and fruity curry sauce. The chips tasted good, but the portion size was tiny. I mean really tiny!!! Maybe the new guy is not sure what's a reasonable amount??? The battered burger had been fried several times to the point of tasting cremated. I threw it in the bin as inedible! Think burnt toast taste. The sausage was just about palatable.
I waited quite a while and three people were served whilst I was waiting. There was a lot of chatter going on with the lady doing the frying. Non stop, loud, chatter with a customer. Maybe focus more on not cremating food in the fryer??? The food was tepid too. Not hot like it usually is. Curry sauce tasted good though!!!
But now I'm still really hungry. And there's no way of telephoning or emailing the shop to make them aware of my disappointment.
I will order from here one more time and if they can resolve this issue amicably I'll review my review. After all, we all have off days.
Ps: I drive 20 minutes each way to this chip shop because it's been so good...

Admittedly it's been 29 years since I've been there however it was a really good fish n chips. Which is based on me having had fish n chips all over the UK.
All fresh and really nice tasting especially the curry sauce (Chinese ver). Yes the fish was a little greasy and yes it went down my dashboard after we parked up but it's fish straight out of the fryer and wrapped up. It's going to happen and doesn't me it's worthy of a bad review just something to be aware of.
I'd say it was a little bit on the expensive side compared to fish n chips in Telford but hey we were on holiday and were living a little.
Did like the little taste of Scotland on the menu deep fried battered black pudding or haggis. In hindsight should have tried the black pudding but forgot. Maybe stick a battered cheeseburger on there to spice it up a little.
All in all pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend anyone looking for fish and chips to give this a go.
Sometimes hard to judge places on Google reviews so wanted to give a bit more detail than just nice chips. So that you can make a more...
Read moreSo we're in Prestatyn for a couple of nights for a midweek break and fish and chips won the vote for the evening meal. So glad we went to Ffrith & Chips. The fish was best I'd had in a long while, the batter was firm and crunchy and the chips were excellent - and all cooked fresh. I have no problem waiting a few minutes while my fish and chips are cooked and the owner was very friendly as we chatted, discussing among other things the old photos of the area which adorn the front of the counter.
The shop is clearly marked with social distancing measures with only four customers allowed in at any time. There is a seating area outside, enough for a couple of families of 4-6 to eat, (two picnic tables) or wait if there's a queue. Payment is by cash or card with a contactless card reader. There is a small car park opposite the shop which was very convenient.
All in all I couldnt find any fault with the whole "dining experience". There wasn't a scrap left around an hour later! Verdict? 10/10.
Oh, and thanks for the vinegar...
