The Merrie Harrier has undergone a delightful transformation since new owners took charge, especially when it comes to their delicious food offerings. If you're looking for a great place to eat in a cozy pub setting, The merrier harrier is the spot to visit. They've really stepped up their game and now serve amazing food that's turned things around for them. Their menu has completely changed for the better. You've got to try their signature chicken burger —crispy outside, soft inside, topped with lots of cheese and bacon, with different tasty sauces to choose from. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the staff are really helpful and ready to recommend their favorites. In summary, The Merrie Harrier is now a top spot for great food and a relaxed vibe under new ownership. Whether you're hanging out with friends or on a date, stop by and savor the delicious changes they've made!

Just WOW. Whilst visiting family popped into pub with our Great Dane, Buddy. All received a warm welcome. Having a large bread dog is a joy but can come with challenges when socialising out. Not here!!!… New land lady is friendly, smart and highly knowledgeable of the industry. We really do wish you all the luck and will definitely be back. Like we did everyday of our holiday after this first visit. We ate at the Merrie Harrier once and really enjoyed it. Great selection of food. Lovely family atmosphere with a good balance of tradition pub banter. Can’t recommend enough. Please support these lovely people. You will not be disappointed. See you next time Marie and staff. Dad said he misses you already. X

Cracking little pub and has turned around from previous visits. Staff are very friendly and even allowing changes to meals as I don't like BBQ sauce so swapped to hot sauce for my hunters chicken. Very good value for money and a reasonable pace for food. Look forward to my next visit

Very disappointing evening. Booked table for 6 tonight. Arrived with toy poodle only to be told pub is not dog friendly. Had previously visited Merrie Harriers in October 2021 with same dog and same friends. (On that occasion great food friendly staff and my dog was given water and dog treats) Tonight a member of the staff and unfriendly did show us a table at top of pub right by the door and very windy cold night and three of our diners were pensioners. This was because of the dog. As we tried to explain that this was a cold area and having the dog had not been an issue on previous visit, another staff member appeared and agreed we could go to the hard floor area and take a table.

Three of use ordered sirloin steak and I received the medium rare when I had ordered well done. The peppered sauce was just a boat of gravy and that was what each of us had. Very small amount of chips and over cooked peas with three onion rings. Presentation was zero. Two other friend had fish and chips and batter was burnt and hard crispy that as the fork was put to the fish fragments of batter ricochet around the table. Again presentation dismal and 8 chips on the plate. Only one person found their meal acceptable and that was sausage and mash. No cutlery or serviettes on the table we had to fetch these from an empty table of which there were plenty of empty tables!!!! We opted for dessert as we hoped they could not mess them up. I had cold American pancakes…one tiny scoop of ice cream with one tinned strawberry and a teaspoon of berries and chocolate sauce UNDERNEATH the pancakes. Presentation zero taste disappointing. Spent approximately £140. At no time did anyone approach our table to enquire if we needed anything or ask if we were enjoying our meal. Hospitality zero. We will never enter the Merrie Harriers again and spent the evening discussing where we will eat on our...

Visited today, when ordering food, the barman advised he was barman, waiter & chef as the cook had not shown up. He did say that he had his 15 year old in the kitchen, which was a bit alarming. The only options of food we had was Sunday Roast. We ordered 2 beef and 1 chicken dinner. The portion size was aimed at children, 1 parsnip and a load of soggy veg with cold beef, it took me a while to identify the Yorkshire pudding, it was deflated and tasted like cardboard. The worst part of the meal was the chicken, the only way I could describe the taste, was like eating lead, it smelt gone off and looked like it had been cooked on the radiator. I complained to the manager/barman/chef/waiter, to which he offered a refund for JUST the chicken dinner. I did advise that he shouldn’t be serving that chicken to anyone, but as we sat there, even with my feedback, they still continued to serve the chicken, with the child’s portion of soggy veg, a deflated Yorkshire and 1 parsnip. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone, the barman should have shut the kitchen, not continued to serve food with a 15 year old head chef. I don’t even think if you put that food out for seagulls it’d be eaten. Won’t...

It amazes me these good reviews?? Took my elderly mum with her friends for a pre booked Xmas meal - Without telling them they cancelled the Christmas disco and Christmas karaoke and put on the boxing match instead on every screen. The pub was absolutely empty! Just a bunch of older ladies having to put up with the boxing in the background, it wasn’t even the main fight! They wouldn’t even put in some Christmas music in the background for them. If we’ve known this, we wouldn’t have gone

. The best thing - The managers Happily sat and watched the boxing whilst eating a takeaway that they had brought in that stank the whole Place out! They knew we weren’t very impressed, but they decided to ignore us. Occasionally looking over with dirty looks! I felt so sorry And her friends – I can see why the pub was empty! I would never go there again! My starter was still frozen in the centre where they haven’t even bothered putting it in the microwave for long enough! The only thing I can say the younger members of staff Were very sweet and lovely. But myself, family and friends will...
