First day we attended we ordered Fruit Pavlova. I thought £7 was expensive and the portion size small.
The following day we ordered 4 mains and 4 puddings. The 2 pavlova were significantly larger than the previous day. I mentioned the portion difference to the landlords mother and her reply was "Oh that would be Hannah's portion or the end of the pudding. At least we didn't charge you extra for the bigger portion".
Summary:
There are four eateries in Amroth beach front. The New Inn, expensive, small and flippant.
Amroth Arms - Public House. First day we went there. We asked if the dogs (2 Westies) could enter. The first reaction was cold and hostile. NO, dogs can't come in today, but can for the remainder of the week. We were confused. The lady replied, dogs can't enter on a Sunday, but can other days, but there are time restrictions. We then went to The Smugglers and spent £76. With the pubs hostility, they losy the £76 order and only got the opportunity to sell us 1.5 pints of lager the remainder of the week.
Smugglers - Large cafe environment. Upper layer and lower play area for children.
The Pirate - Small friendly cafe environment. Traditional cafe. Reasonable prices. Friendly service.
Temple Bar - Working man's Social Club. Everyone welcome. Bingo on Wednesday. Quiz night on Thursday. Mike & Max, the two Golden Retrievers are very friendly. The...
Read moreReally disappointing!! The restaurant side was closed so we had to eat in the dark dimly lit pub or outside which was loud and just not our cup of tea. The tables were horribly sticky even after we wiped them down with wipes. The menus were really sticky and ripped and stained with beer and sauce. The children's fish fingers and chicken nuggets were very cheap and processed. We had coke from the pump and when we returned it due to it having almost no syrup in it (even agreed with by a random other customer) it we were told that there was nothing wrong with it. Adults meals were fine but nothing special and a few chips were very undercooked. We hoped that by having a pudding our meal would be made better however we were told that they no longer did puddings. Very disappointed mainly due to the vast change in the way the pub appears to be run now. I have been going for years and it has always been clean and tidy we have enjoyed ourselves. We will not be going again this year but due to having many years of great experiences here we will try them again next time we are in the area. Hopefully just bank holiday sloppiness due to being busy and wanting a lot of quick summer off the beach/holiday park trade. Upset with this experience as usually a treat for...
Read moreWe chose here for a drink after a walk on the seafront and boy do we wish we didn't! Upon arrival there was no clear signage of whether we could be inside or outside (turns out that if it's a nice day they'll make you sit outside but don't actually tell you this which confuses everything especially as indoor hospitality is now in fact open). The man that told us how to order was very abrupt in telling us that we take a seat and wait for a member of staff to come over with track and trace details etc. So we did just that and took a seat, well 20 minutes after doing so and watching several staff walk right past us back in the pub and out again empty handed and looking around the outdoor area we eventually got served..... NO TRACK AND TRACE DETAILS WERE TAKEN and the member of staff had little knowledge of what drinks were available and looked at me confused upon asking for a drinks menu. Here started another 20 minute wait for our drinks to be bought out by a different member of staff than the one that served us and then another 20 minutes for yet another member of staff to take payment. All very clumsy in my opinion and disappointed that no track or trace...
