Absolutely beautiful pub which is well maintained and has such a rich history. Our room was fantastic with a view of the town green and the Farmers Arms, opposite. Very limited parking and had to park approximately 400 yards away. However, we were able, later on, to park outside the pub. Arrived early approximately 1:40pm with a check in at 2pm and were told that we couldn’t check in until the due time in a rather frank manner. So we went across to the Farmers Arms for a beer where the welcome was much warmer and far more hospitable. We returned, checked in and when we inquired about booking a meal we were told that a) from one member of staff that bookings were required and the restaurant was fully booked and b) from another member of staff that we could have a table if we were prepared to wait until 8pm when orders started to quieten down. So, unfortunately, we didn’t get the benefit of the 30% discount. We did have a nice breakfast the following morning but in hospitality sometimes it’s importance is often overlooked.

Based in the village of Nottage is this wonderful little Gem., and has become my favourite place to eat and relax. This is my 3rd visit in as many weeks. There is a small parking area to the front of the premises. It also has a lovely seating area placed at the front of the establishment, cross over a small lane/road (which can be busy) to a walled green which I believe is very popular in the warmer months. The bar is dog friendly and welcoming to their escorted Hoomans 😉 I/we were greeted by a lovely young lady called Emma who showed us to our seats, and gave us menus (she supplied my elderly friend with a pair of glasses to read the menu when she realised she'd forgotten hers) - (A selection left by past/other guests to the establishment) The restaurant is very atmospheric and oldy-worldly. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is competitively priced, well presented and delicious. I will definitely be visiting again ☺️

A sincere evaluation: We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this charming, traditional countryside pub. The food surpassed our expectations with its excellence. However, there were drawbacks. Despite the restaurant being only half full, we experienced delays in being served. The service was consistently slow; it took us approximately 15 minutes each time to place an order, including drinks. Considering the prices, we anticipated more efficient service. Nevertheless, the food was exceptional, and the staff were delightful. My primary feedback is that the service needs improvement due to its slowness.

Cannot fault the food it was fantastic, however the service was atrocious. We arrived on a Thursday evening, without a booking and were seated by a very helpful lady who took our drinks order The restaurant was not very busy, with many empty tables. We placed our food order with a gentleman, and the starters came out promptly. As I said, the food was great, and up to that point the service had too. The same gent, who had a mop of blond hair as if he was in the band in Flock of Seaguls, took away our starter plates and returned with our mains. When asked if he could get us anything we asked for another two drinks. Once again food was good, but things were getting thirsty. We tried to get FoS attention but had slipped into a cloak of invisibility. We finished our mains, and for a brief moment we thought it was going to be ok, when FoS half cleared our table and we reminded him of the drinks. Then we waited. The table to our side was served their main course. They ate heartily, and their empty dishes taken away, all of them. They were then asked if they might like to see the dessert menu. Despite trying to gain the attention of FoS, we were still invisible. Defeated, I walked to the bar and ordered our drinks having waited for 40 minutes. On the way back I picked up two dessert menus. Luckily a different lad came to take the dessert order for the other table and we managed to get his attention and place ours. Dessert was delivered and the remainder of our plates were cleared. Dessert was mediocre. When we finished we managed to ask FoS for the bill. And we waited. After 15 minutes we asked the young lad behind the bar for the bill. And we waited. After 15 minutes I went to the bar to ask for the bill, and were told to be seated and they would bring it over. Eventually FoS dropped off the bill, but seeing as I was paying by card I had to go to the bar anyhow to use the PDQ machine.

So, lovely drinks. Lovely food Just aweful service. Will be back for drinks when we are walking through the village, but...

We came to celebrate my 59th Birthday, which was the day before, but I was too busy to go that evening and the restaurant is 45 minutes from our home. We had previously visited at the end of May and had a wonderful meal and experience, which is why we wanted to revisit. We arrived slightly early and were shown to our table which was in a walkway, we asked if there was another table but were told they were fully booked and we duly sat down. We ordered a bottle of Wine and two bottles of sparkling water prior to ordering our meal. The server came to take our order and informed us that a number of items were not available, but that didn't bother us as we were ordering the Ribeye steak which was available. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive, my medium rare was more like medium well done and my wife's medium well was like a piece of boot leather it had been so over-cooked, we really should've complained and sent the food back, but we felt sorry for the staff who looked rushed off their feet, so said nothing. At the end of the dinner the server came back to clear our dishes and ask us if we wanted dessert, we said yes, but we only needed one menu. 40 minutes later, the menu had still not arrived nor had we been asked for our order, I got up and helped myself to a menu from the reception desk, the server came into the room about 4 times and didn't ask us for our order, even though she was very attentive to other guests, which left us feeling uncomfortable. After 55 minutes I asked another waiter for the bill, she told us she would get it for us, after 10 minutes more I had to ask again if the bill was coming and she responded by saying "I am busy," 5 minutes later she appeared with the bill which my wife paid but looked quite put out when my wife...

We're staying at Trecco Bay holiday park and found The Rose and Crown by looking through loads of comments on the Trecco Bay site - it was worth the time searching for it as it was AMAZING! When we arrived the pub was busy but not overcrowded and there was a really friendly atmosphere to the place. It's an old building separated into the bar areas and the restaurant areas and people were sitting and eating in both. We sat in the restaurant after a 5 minute wait and it was very chilled out in there with a lovely ambience. We ordered drinks and they arrived quickly while we looked at the extensive menu. There were loads of options and it was difficult to choose what to order. When we ordered the food, it took about 20 minutes to come out and was piping hot and clearly freshly cooked. It was all delicious! The pork belly burger was great and the pie looked amazing. The kids enjoyed their meals too. The serving staff were brilliant and nothing was too much for them. We all managed to find space for pudding and were glad that we did. The lemon tort was delicious and the Melting chocolate dome puddings were devoured by both my wife and daughter. While we're in the area, I'm sure we'll visit again as it was more than a meal, it was a lovely evening out! Thank you everyone at the Rose and Crown for such a...
