I'm a little embarrassed that this review comes so late after my festive visit. First of all as always I want to thank everyone that follows me and my reviews because of my illness which I'm very open about and thank you for all the private messages. The reason I mention my illness is because eating out for me is hard, and there has only been one other place I've felt comfortable enough to eat at. I have anorexia nervosa which I'm trying to recover from and eating out is a part of that. I went to the running hare with my parents on Christmas day which I was very anxious and nervous about. I had absolutely nothing to worry about. From the moment we came through the door I was treated with love and compassion and as I've lost my mobility I have to use a wheelchair which the lovely manager helped us with straight away. We were greeted by the manager who's name unfortunately I didn't get. My mother explained to her about my illness and this kind lady immediately put me at ease and changed our table to a quieter and out of the way corner which I was happy with. My mother explained that I don't have portion control and while put to much on my plate and had brought my own boxes to take food I haven't eaten home. The manager was lovely and again told me it was fine and put me at ease. When we were seated we were immediately greated by the serving staff Tash and Alfee Who again understand and was nothing but caring and compassionate making me feel relaxed. Nothing was to much trouble and they both went above and beyond for me making me feel as I was there only customer. The meal it'self was amazing. They have an all you can eat carvery which was absolutely delicious. I was nervous at the carvery at first because I pile to much on my plate because I don't know how to eat properly and it's embarrassing. Other customers in the que were judging me but the lovely amazing chef Sue had my back and helped me and like the other staff understood and helped me so much, and in fact Sue visited us at our table numerous times to check I was okay and if I needed anything else. She is absolutely lovely. We also had starters and dessert which was the best I've ever tasted and the whole meal for me was perfect. The restaurant was decorated for Christmas and it was cosy and comfortable. I want to personally thank everyone at the running hare for giving me and my parents a lovely lovely Christmas day and making my visit which I was worried about the best I've had From the excellent customer service and amazing food and we'll definitely be spending Christmas day here again. Everyone there should be very proud of themselves and I want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for everything you did for me that day and giving me a day I needed. I would highly recommend the running hare to everyone you won't be disappointed and you'll enjoy great customer service and amazing food. I will definitely be going back because I know this is a place I'm comfortable in.

We recently visited The Running Hare for a bite to eat and had a really enjoyable experience. We were greeted warmly on arrival by the team and offered the choice of where we’d like to sit, which was a nice touch and made us feel relaxed straight away. After having a look through the menu, which had a good variety of options, we decided on the carvery and the ultimate Southern fried chicken burger. The burger came out after a short wait and looked great. It was well presented and hit the spot. We then headed up for the carvery, which had a great selection of meats including beef, turkey, and gammon. There was also a generous variety of vegetables to choose from, including different types of potatoes, which is always a win. Everything was topped off with plenty of gravy and a good choice of sauces on offer. All in all, it was a good visit with tasty food and a welcoming, friendly team. I would happily return for another meal.

6 of our group of 7 had the carvery, meat portions were cut unevenly so some slices were smaller than others, turkey was just OK but beef was delicious, oven baked potatoes were chewy, like eating plastic, and the stuffing was awful, consistency like polenta and no taste, I've had better from lidl. Cauliflowers cheese was amazing, kids loved it too, and the rest of the veggies were good too. Very friendly and helpful staff, made us feel very welcome. Shame though about the "kid's corner", with a basic bead on rails table surrounded by half a dozen toy machines (a claw machine, a toy vending machine, a lollipop machine, a couple of sweet dispensers and two capsule dispensers). Of course they're all RIGHT by the toilets, so as soon as the kids see them it's pandemonium and unless you're willing to spend spend spend you can say goodby to a peaceful meal. Which I expect is the point, but doesn't make me want to go here again

We were looking forward to our visit, we love this place. The staff are fantastic and the place is spotless… There was myself and my Dad (who’s 87 next month). My Dad ordered the steak in ale pie with fries instead of chips, and I ordered the Cumberland sausage (with fries instead of mash). Didn’t have to wait very long for the meals to arrive, the meals were well presented and greeted by the young lady who brought them. Earlier on into the meals, we were asked if everything was ok with the meals, but this was before we started eating the fries……… Not long after, I noticed that my dad was taking quite a few of the fries (separately) out of his mouth and putting them out on the side of the plate. I started on the sausages and ended up with the fries. Mine too were hard, I’d say 40 to 50 percent. Dad must have only had a 15 or so fries and left the rest (there were a LOTon his plate)… He asked if my fries were hard and I had to agree. He said his steak in ale pie was ok, three pieces of meat and lots of suet pastry. It was not what he was expecting. When the plates were collected, a different lady asked if everything was ok, and we both said the fries were hard. She squeezed on of them from dads plate, couldn’t squash it and said she would mention this to the kitchen. We heard no more from the staff, drank our orange squash and left after 10 minutes out our plates being taken. As mentioned before, we really love this place for a meal, it’s like a treat to come here. I’m not sure how things will work out with us in the future, do we avoid the fries - in case they are hard again, go for chips (really prefer fries to be honest) or find a location that can do fries well every time. Greene King, their pubs we have never had any issues with their fries. Disappointed on this visit, would like a response from Customer Services by...

Haven't been to this pub for a few years as wasn't impressed in the past. Decided to give it another go as received a 30% off voucher. One star given because we didn't have to pay full price for a very disappointing meal and because no facility to just give no stars. Ordered Hunters chicken which was advertised as having mozzarella and cheddar cheese topping and bacon with chips. The chips were refried to the state of being like burnt crisps and almost cold. Absolutely inedible! Also no cheese topping. Part of star can be attributed to having at least a decently cooked chicken breast. I have limited mobility so difficulty getting to bar to address these issues as my husband was in a long cue at the carvery. Remember now why we stopped going to this pub and despite the further money off vouchers valid to 2.3.24 will not be going there again. With regards to comment from the owner, regarding advising of dissatisfaction at the time. A staff member enquired at the end of our meals if everything was ok. I did complain about the inadequesies of the meal then and was offered some chips but by then we were ready to come home. Too little too late. As said originally, because of mobility issues didn't have the capacity to approach staff. A table nearby was asked in quick succession three times whether everything was ok by two different members of staff, but not near enough for me to attract their attention. Unfortunately I was unlucky in the timing of a member of staff eventually checking on my meal. Maybe if I had had the opportunity earlier, something might have been rectified. However doesn't detract from a meal being served in such an abysmal fashion in the...
