My first experience at this hotel was very disappointing. I went there with my friend, and though the restaurant was presented as “Indian,” it turned out to be Bangladeshi-owned and marketed as Indian for business purposes. That didn’t really matter to us, but the overall experience did. My friend ordered a set meal while I ordered à la carte. After waiting for almost an hour, the food finally arrived. The rice I tried first was extremely salty, and when I mentioned it to the staff, I then tried the curry, which was just the same – far too salty to enjoy.
When I raised the issue, the staff did not handle it well. Instead of apologising politely, they claimed that all customers were being served the same food and no one else had complained. They were dismissive, rude, and completely lacking in courtesy. Even though they offered to change the food, there was no politeness or acknowledgment of their mistake – not even a simple “sorry.” On top of that, it was quite noticeable that there was a difference in how Asians and white customers were treated, which made the experience even more unpleasant.
Overall, the food was poor, the service was unprofessional, and the attitude of the staff was unacceptable. I would never recommend this...
Read moreWe've dined at the Taj restaurant twice in the last few months, and each time, the food has been absolutely delicious with an extensive menu offering a great variety of dishes. The decor is inviting and stylish, and the overall ambiance is lovely.
However, the service speed could use improvement, as we've waited nearly an hour and a half on both visits before receiving our main courses. During our recent visit, we were there for around three hours, and we noticed that the table next to us had dirty plates and leftover food from previous guests that remained uncleared for a concerning amount of time. The staff didn't seem to prioritise addressing this.
That said, the quality of the food is undeniable, and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff are friendly, and the restaurant has great potential. With just a bit more attention to detail in service and cleanliness, it could truly stand out as an exceptional...
Read moreHave been using the Taj for years. Often frequenting to dine in or have a takeaway most weekends but have to admit not so for a few months due to personal reasons. Never ever had a problem either eating in or takeaway. Decided to order tonight, £37, popadoms and chutneys. 2 curries, 2 breads and the rice and chips. I’ve heard of shrink-flation but have to say seems all companies at it. The price had gone up roughly by about £5 (we expected that)..what we didn’t expect was third filled pots of chutneys apart from the onion salad. Keema naan was filled in one corner. A slither of mince. I understand prices have gone up, but ripping customers off means you end up losing customers. As nice as the curry was, we won’t be eating anymore. Costing more, getting less!! Thanks...
