Where do i start. The Tarmarind Cwmbran. Went to this restaurant for a birthday meal and was expecting it to be great after hearing about this place. Mint sauce that doesnt taste of mint sauce. After telling the manager he said he would make a ‘pint of mint smoothie’ just for us. Safe to say the larger bowl of mint sauce tasted the same. Watered down and tasted of more vinegar than mint. Green sludge. Tikka masala was clumpy falling off the spoon and when mixed was thick like cement i could build a house with it. Also had no taste whatsoever. Garlic naan tasted the opposite of garlic naan. Couldnt lace The Mint Rooms or the Modern Baltis boots in Barry who make most of their food fresh there and then in plain view of the customer. Also they are charging more than a 2021 Indian food winner. Absolutely dissapointed. All the people posting 5 star reviews on about service are correct the service was great and the staff was very helpful but at the end of the day it is down to the food and with the food they clearly have never tasted a proper Indian to distinguish between whats rubbish and whats great tasting....
Read moreWe went here for our anniversary. Looks really good and was pleased with the service. We started with onion Bhajis. We also orded 4 Popadoms to nibble on. They also brought a pickle tray, which consisted of 4 small dips in 4 small dishes. We then ordered Chicken tikka masala with half rice/chips & Rogan josh with half rice/chips 1 pint of coke and 1 larger shandy. Food was pretty good. THEN THE BILL. £50.50 🤤 Looking at the bill there was a pickle tray charge, that we never asked for but was still charged. After paying and leaving a small tip, I asked the waiter why was we charged for something that we did not even ask for. His reply was that the Popadoms come with the pickle tray. I said this was wrong as if other restaurants add sauces they usually ask you first. We Didnt want money back or anything, but we will NOT be going there again out of principle. We was going to make it a weekly regular thing but we will find somwhere else who tell you that the sauces are an extra cost. Really let the restaurant down with this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at tamarind in Cwmbran that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a delightful culinary experience. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors and aromatic spices.
I started with the Delhi tower were there was tandori chicken, lamb and samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a deliciously spiced potato filling. For the main course, I opted for the lamb buna, and it was nothing short of amazing. The lamb was tender, and the sauce was rich and flavourful, paired beautifully with mushroom rice and a fluffy paswari naan bread that to die for.
My fiance opted for the chicken pathia which was nothing short from amazing.
Overall, the food was fantastic, and the service was attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great-tasting...
