We visited twice within two weeks, hoping the first experience was just a fluke. Unfortunately, both visits were marred by serious issues with undercooked food.
On our first visit, I ordered the chicken thigh skewers, only to find the meat raw in the middle. The dish was sent back and it took 25 minutes for a replacement to arrive. By which time my grandfather had finished his meal and we had to leave. A week later, I tried the duo of pork and again, both the pork ball and fillet were undercooked, with the ball visibly bloody. (Side note: I do enjoy rare steak but raw pork is a health hazard!)
Both times, the waitressing team were fab —they were attentive, apologetic and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn’t match their standard.. Waiting another 20–25 minutes for a corrected dish, twice in a row, is unacceptable.
To add to the frustration, parking can be a pain, especially at lunch time. There are very few spaces available and it’s a stressful start to the visit before you’ve even walked through the door. Pricing is also on the higher side, which would be fine if the food were consistently well-executed but given the amateur mistakes we encountered, it felt unjustified.
The menu itself is creative and full of promise and the front of house team is lovely. But until the kitchen can reliably cook meat to a safe standard and the overall experience matches the price point, it’s really hard to recommend. We won't be going back there, at least for...
Read moreWorth a visit! My partner and I came to Wales for a few days break from Cornwall. Firstly, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had a waitor and a waitress who served us- both very polite, friendly and created a great atmosphere! We were seated quickly, great customer service. Drinks arrived quickly. It took 15 minutes for food to arrive which was great. ordered the belly pork and my partner had the steak. (See photos published). Steak: perfectly cooked, well seasoned. The peppercorn sauce was the right amount of pepper to sauce balance. The chips were delicious! Some of the nicest chips we’ve had in a very long time from a restaurant! Onion rings were crispy with a nice filling of onion! Fresh crispy salad on the side. Belly pork: When ordering, they did not have belly pork left in stock however they had pulled pork which I was more than happy to have. Crackling was crispy and nice. The meat was soft and tender, melt in the mouth. The gravy was so flavoursome and rich. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream (the sponge was soft and the sauce was strong in flavour). The caramelised apple crumble was delicious! Soft apples with a hint of cinnamon topped beautifully with hot thick custard. Overall a hugely enjoyable evening. Great food and atmosphere. Our meal came to just under £60 which we felt was good value for money for the quality of food we had been served. Hope to come back the next time we...
Read moreAfter visiting this place quite regularly in January we decided that we really liked this place, the food was nice and it had a nice atmosphere. We returned here a few days ago but we were very disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted buy a lady who seated us and explained that she would be over in about ten minutes to take our order as she was just dealing with a large party. We thought that was fair enough and took our seats. After about twenty minutes someone came and took our order, apart from the the party of ten there was only us and a group of four people in the room. Our drinks were brought over quite promptly, but after this we didn't hear from any of the members of staff for a considerably long time. We then decided to leave. As I payed for the drinks a lady came over and explained that our food was just being plated up. I went to get my partner who had already walked out to the car. As I started to explain to her that our food was just being plated up she pointed out that it had been over an hour and a half since our order was taken and she was not...
