The Lamb & Flag — Restaurant in Wales

This pub/hotel saved my bacon! My friend and I were stranded by the RAC for almost 9 hours, and we had missed the check in window for a different hotel in the Brecon Beacons. The Lamb & Flag was the only hotel within towing distance that was available and my god did they save the day. The team there went completely above and beyond to look after my friend and I. The manager stayed late hoping to see us in, and then the chef (yes, the chef! Whose job is nothing to do with hotel rooms and late check ins!) stayed up very late and let us in when we finally arrived - exhausted and hungry. The room was warm and clean, smelled lovely and was so comfortable. In the morning they served us an ace breakfast - big portions of a full English, plus continental options and a big pot of coffee and fresh juice. The chef was so kind and warm, as was the manager when she arrived. We stayed and chatted and loved their company. What a team! The manager said she was really new to the pub but you wouldnt tell - she's a natural! We will 100% be visiting again one day when we visit Wales again. Even if it's just for a pint. But to be honest at the tiny price we paid for our hotel room (which includes the lovely brekkie!), I'm sure we'll stay for much more than just one drink :) Thank you guys...

We stayed one night at the Lamb and Flag on our trip in South Wales. The rooms are spacious, clean, warm and have everything you need. We had a shower and a bath in our room.

The pub had live entertainment on during the evening but don’t let this worry you as it does not run into the early hour, so you still get a quiet night sleep. The breakfast was DELICIOUS with your choice of eggs etc.

The best part about our stay - the staff. The staff are welcoming, chatty and couldn’t do more for you. The sweetest staff for sure!

4.5 Only a couple of recommendations hence the 4.5 - a lot of food had run out on the evening unfortunately (there was a function on downstairs so it was entirely just bad timing for us), we only had one set of towels but it was too late to ask when we’d realised, thicker curtains and a bigger tele. Tiny little things though and didn’t change our positive opinions of the Lamb and Flag.

All in all a lovely stay and a BARGAIN for £70 a night!! We’ll definitely be back again. Thank you for a great stay...

The carvery was very good although could have been a little hotter.. chef cutting meat was very pleasant..the service ar the bar was not very good waited ages to be served people coming in after me getting served 1st but there were girls running around laying tables more help should have been behind the bar.. also I rang to book but was not in the list.. they gave us a table for 4 as there were 2 of us and a high chair but before we had even finished our food we were asked to move to a 2 seater table with no room for the high chair..we were not even offered desserts.. so as we were getting ready to leave there were other people standing with their food waiting to go our table.. terrible service!!! We will come back as the food was good but you need to get a better system..if same next time there will defo not be a time after that.. I've also ate here evening times and food is very good it's a shame a sundsy...
