Booked in at the Mootel for two nights, the staff couldn’t do enough for you tending to your every need, even explaining the best places to travel to in the area either by car or public transport or walking. The Mootel is quirky but the bed is very comfortable & roomy. Still quiet new as less than 12 months old. All the areas in the room was very clean & well presented. Booked in for the breakfast in the mornings really filling, unable to get booking for the restaurant on the first night as it was Sunday & full. But made sure on the second night by booking early, what a great menu plenty of choices, well presented & filling. Reasonably priced for everything. The farm shop has plenty of choices, catering for campers & people staying at the Mootel, you don’t have to eat in the restaurant, but I would just for the experience, if you use the public transport get the day rover £6.70 good value if you consider how much it cost to park in the main places, picks you up & drops you off at the front just speak to the driver. The bus goes from cardigan to Aberystwyth or in reverse & paces through all the main beach areas. You can walk along the cliffs to either New Quay or Aberaeron but make sure to wear sturdy shoes but the views are amazing. Thanks for a great stay & relaxing time.

A must visit if you’re in the area. We camped near New Quay recently and visited three times during our two week stay. The farm shop is compact but well worth a browse. We discovered delicious local cheese, Welsh cakes of multiple varieties, and the most delicious locally distilled rum — incredibly smooth and not spiced! It seemed rude not to take advantage of the restaurant during these three visits. The food is delicious. I especially liked the design your own sandwich options, and I can also recommend the burgers and the delicious coffee. Had we been there for dinner, I would definitely have tried a steak. Portion sizes were generous, and whilst some vegetarian options were likely available—I didn’t really notice—as the name suggests, this is a venue that is focused on meat. All the staff we interacted with were fab: friendly, chatty, and full of local knowledge. We were especially charmed by the lady running the shop on our second visit, who offered to let us sample the rum, which was instrumental in us buying an extra bottle. A great local business, highly recommended, and I haven’t even mentioned the “mootel”, which looked charming, the camp site (we camped elsewhere), and the children’s play centre. Pop in if you’re passing. You won’t be disappointed.

We arrived late on Friday night to stay in the moo motel. The young lad that booked in was helpful to a point. The first night was very cold as we seemed to have no control over the air conditioning it turns out when we asked reception the next day, the air con controllers are taken away incase people loose them. Another strange point to note is a elderly man asked if toiletries are supplied, now I understand not everybody supplies toiletries but in business you should never put yourself down, but the lady at reception told the gentlemen “we are not a 5 star hotel” this is why my review dropped to a 4 star rating. The reason it dropped from a 4 to a 3 is because at 10.59am the lady owner Chris thought it right to come in, let herself in to somebody’s room and shout it’s changeover day get out. We didn’t have to be out until 11am and if breakfast didn’t take 55mins to actually be served from point of order we would have been ready to leave much earlier. All in all the rooms are very nice and the food is lovely but the way customers are treated will most likely be the detriment of this place unfortunately.

Visited here with a party of 13, all ranges of ages who had gathered to celebrate with a family evening meal for an 88th birthday.

This is a large place which was busy so a challenging time for the staff.

We were pre-booked with two weeks notice so to find we were placed on two different tables back to back in the bar area was not only surprising but also very disappointing. The larger table had bench seating which was not only uncomfortable but meant a backwards climb to get out or having to ask multiple people to move.

It would have been easy enough for the establishment to have made room for us elsewhere, a little thought and effort is all it required, especially considering the number in the party and the large bill we paid.

There was a large choice of areas and table configurations within the space so it was something straightforward to do if staff could have been bothered, and I am removing a service star because of that.

The bar area was busy with people who seemed to have drank a few too many and insisted on dropping loud F bombs (we had children with us) and they had a large dog which random noisy people seemed to want to congregate around to pet.

My food was nice, Welsh rarebit followed by Lasagne. Others were disappointed with aspects of their dishes. Coleslaw too dry and pavlova rock hard etc Bar: good lagers and quick service but beer options were poor - their just wasn't any. If you wanted Doombar for example it was only available alcohol free from a bottle and was like flat coke mixed with treacle.

Gents toilet was small and awkward if more than a couple of patrons were using it, and for such a large place this could be a problem?

On the whole 2 stars, hope this feedback is appreciated by the...

We first visited The Moody Cow in 2019 whilst on holiday and absolutely loved it! They served us the best onion bhaji I've ever tasted. We found ourselves on a brief couple of days away in the same area this week (June 2023) and knew we HAD to go back. We were not disappointed!!! We were incredibly impressed on our first visit at not only the beautiful food but the lovely atmosphere and friendly staff and it was reinforced at our second visit. We this time had our dog with us and checked before we went in if he would be welcome and were told 'absolutely!' 🙂. We were very quickly seated by a lovely member of staff and our orders were taken. The food and drinks were served very quickly and presented beautifully. As we expected, the taste was incredible! Stunning fresh produce had very obviously been used and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. What we didn't check out was the new addition since our last visit the moody calf....as we didn't have our son with us this time.... but from what we saw on the outside it looks gorgeous!

If anyone is coming to this gorgeous part of Wales you need to visit the Moody Cow.... its a little gem! It goes without saying the food is stunning, (the farm shop sells gorgeous produce too) the surroundings inside and outside are also beautiful but really what makes this place very special and makes us want to go back is the atmosphere there. The staff are so very friendly from the moment you step over the door, nothing is too much trouble and they truly make you feel at home. You can tell that the owners of this establishment have put their heart and soul into this place, their love and attention oozes from the walls, furniture and fittings. Visit The Moody Cow you will absolutely not be...

Will never go back here again. 12 of us had a family birthday meal at 6pm on a Saturday night. Disappointed as soon as we walked in. Our table was positioned near the bar, there were many people there who had been watching Wales play rugby on the TV, the were very loud and drunk but that wasn't the pubs fault so we carried on to order our food. I personally had a T-bone steak, which was awful, asked for medium rare, outside was charred and burnt and inside was rare, the steak had a lot of fat and sinews especially around the bone, both daughters had burger that was also charred and very dry, wife also had a burger but hers was OK. My pudding was sticky toffee pudding and custard, the custard came in a little jug to share with another, I poured the custard on my pudding and it was cold, as in just out the carton cold, so told the waitress that there was cold custard on my cake and she took it back, 5 minutes later the same cake had the same custard on it and had simply been microwaved until the toffee on the cake had crystallised solid and could not be eaten. It was busy there so could put this experience down to a one off, even sort of excusable. But the thing that we all agreed on why we would never go back was the number of dogs in the restaurant and bar area, obviously the dogs had 'accidents' which the waitresses cleaned up, the same waitresses serving the food, every now again a dog would bark setting off the other dogs to a...
