Lovely place! We went here for the first time for Mothers Day. It became very busy just after we arrived, and the kitchen seemed to struggle a bit to keep up so there was a bit of a wait between the starter and the main but in fairness they kept us topped up with drinks and it was a nice atmosphere, and when the mains came they were all lovely. Beautifully presented and delicious. Well worth waiting for! The starters were lovely, really tasty. We had one of each option and all came out looking beautiful and each of us commented that our dish was very tasty. And when it came to pudding the pineapple upside down cake stole the show for me, but Mum loved the Sherry Trifle too! Absolutely winning lunch. A little hidden gem of a place. Beautifully clean and with lovely traditional decor with a modern twist. Lovely staff too, most seem quite young and a bit shy so not very chatty but are really happy to do all they can to ensure you have a good hospitality experience, and make sure you feel looked after. We'll definitely go back...

The beer selection was fantastic, the food looked amazing but sadly we didn't get to try it as after 15 minutes waiting to be served at the till, we were made to feel decidedly unwelcome after saying we were sitting outside with our dog. We were told there was an hour wait for food, yet the female served 3 other customers while we were waiting for service at the till (she had seen us waiting). We ordered 3 drinks and only 2 were given to us. The beer my husband ordered was still sitting on the pump! Thankfully, the male server noticed and gave it to us.

It's such a shame as we were really looking forward to trying this place. The service has made us decide not to try again. Having been made to feel like a second-class citizen just because of our choice of seating location has really left a sour note.

I feel sorry for the obviously talented chef that front of house...

If you are looking for top quality food and a excellent selection of beverages, then the Old Moat House is for you. Nestled right next to the impressive Kidwelly Castle, the newly renovated Old Moathouse offers a cosy, relaxed atmosphere under its impressive open beamed ceiling or next to its log burning stove. A wide selection of wine, whiskey, gins and delicious local ales, you are spoilt for choice. As a regular visitor, you won’t go wrong with anything off the menu; fresh, local ingredients are clearly evident in their menu because each dish is extremely tasty. It also has one of the best Roast Dinners around. It’s one place I like to bring friends and family, if I want to show them the best that kidwelly...

Food was fantastic, especially enjoyed the seafood dishes, croquetas and the Sobrassada with fried egg. Cheese board with excellent too with loads of Welsh cheeses. Bar was great and they had a good selection of Welsh craft beers. Location is great next to Kidwelly Castle. The atmosphere is lovely inside and staff were super friendly, I could easily spend all day there drinking and grazing. Update: They also do a great Sunday lunch, pork belly was delicious and good value for money

The Old Moathouse is situated right opposite the entrance to Kidwelly Castle. Lovely Pub/Restaurant with a good selection of smaller foods to share and another menu with main courses. It was very busy on Friday evening the restaurant being full but having booked a table we were able to sit inside the building which is lovely. Lots of outside seating were available also. Food was good with a pleasant atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful.

While visiting Kidwelly Castle, we discovered this little gem of a place. We were hungry and it was right outside the castle. Lovely countryside restaurant/pub and the food served was absolutely incredible. The battered fried Squid was delicious, and so was the Pate. Sunday Roast, Lamb was fabulous, and Pork was just yum. Very friendly staff and service was excellent. Great value for money. A must try when you are visiting Kidwelly Castle.
