Great friendly service but small portion sizes.

Popped in on our first day on holiday in Wales as its local to where we're staying. We received a nice warm, friendly welcome and given clear Covid instructions which I was also impressed by.

Unfortunately the portion sizes are small. I had the curry 'special' which I have to say was very tasty but expected the little curry bowl to be more than 1/4 full. I didn't expect it to be overflowing either, but it wasn't an adult main portion size. My (adult) daughter's chicken tikka bowl was similarly sparse, my wife's scampi meal could have done with a few more scampi and our son's burger meal was visually lacking with just chips on the size I.e. no salad which costs pennies but makes a plate look so much better.

We didn't book Sunday lunch for the next day as a result of the above, but if the owners just tweak the portion sizes up they'll get repeat business and the benefit vs the cost of a decent portion size will be...

Four of us had dinner here this week. Nice cosy lounge area (dogs are welcome in the bar area). Staff friendly and welcoming. Such a good menu choice it took us ages to decide what to have. We chose Revd James Steak and Ale Pie, Glamorgan Sausages and Mash, Gammon and Penang curry. We couldn't fault any of these meals ...clean plates all round. We persuaded ourselves to have dessert and oh my god these didn't disappoint. The lemon meringue crunch was light and tangy. The rum and raisin cheesecake was out of this world -both were generous portions and there were lots of oohs and aahs. A great meal, reasonably priced, and easy to get to. Visited for an evening meal after a day out with the kids. Very quiet at around 6pm on a Saturday afternoon with hardly anyone else there.

Plenty of parking is available to the rear of the pub.

Service was quite fast and pleasant and we didn't have to wait too long for food.

The menu selection was quite limited and there were no specials. We all found something that we liked, but personally would have liked a wider selection. Food was however well presented and very tasty. Prices were very slightly higher than I would have expected.

Overall pretty happy with it and would consider returning...
