Small pub with kind and friendly staff, it had a cosy atmosphere and a welcoming fresh beer garden out back. They offered a good selection of food with a great price. It tasted amazing and was presented very well, I would highly recommend this place to grab a bite if you are on the area, very worth it!

Lovely friendly pub, your traditional looking but with a quirky style , real fire very welcoming. Stayed on campsite near by easy walking distance not a lot of parking places. The food was excellent definitely go back when we stay again have live acts on too on certain nights.

A beautful, very cosy pub built in 1847 (the same year as Birkenhead Park opened!). Selling a choice a real ales including Shipyard IPA. Service was a little slow, but staff and customers very friendly.

It was our last night and we thought we would treat ourselves and go out for a nice meal. The food was mediocre and was all ping food and very over priced to say it was Aldi's finest. We had looked at the menu online and it said there was fish pie but when we got there we were told it was a fish butty! My family do have big appetites but even I found the portion sizes small compared to the price, a jacket potato with a bit of lettuce over £10 ( to be fair that came with salad but my 11 Yr boy only eats lettuce) me and my daughter had scampi which was 13.95 and very disappointing, a handful of chips that didn't taste great and 6 pieces of scampi, worth about £6-7 in my opinion. My partner had pie and mash which to be fair he said tasted nice, again very expensive for the portion size £16 . The lady who served us was very nice and it was a lovely quaint pub, prob best for just drinks as no parking at the pub, a very disappointed night out!

Definitely the right pub you need to change the website to match what you actually serve then people wouldn't be disappointed !! My partner didn't want me to say anything, so he filled the award silence when you asked if it was ok by saying it was nice and he would have liked the plate if he could! It was very over priced for what it was so you wouldn't have done anything about that, hence why you should change your website to match what you actually ser e then you wouldn't get...

First Time visiting and definitely would not be returning.

To start off when arriving we was never seated so we have to find our own table after being told it was round the corner. To then we have to move the table around to fit us on. No table service which was fine happy to go to the bar. When ordering our meals, 2 out of 6 of us when to the bar and ordered our meal first (telling them we was all on a table together and the others would be coming up shortly to add to the ordered) in my head that basic comment sense to send the food out all together? However we did not only just receive our starters first we had our whole meal and then our friends starters came out 30 minutes later. So they wasn’t even close in time as we tried to wait but the food was going cold. While eating our starters our mains came out at the same time, while still in the middle of eating them! Then to top that off we had a black hair in the side of chips. Honestly couldn’t make up how bad the experience was. The food was greasy and most of us didn’t enjoy the meal.

We was told a lot of staff didn’t turn up which we totally understand, however if we knew now how the night was going to turn out we would of turned...

Was going with friends last night, it’s one of my friends local. They both went in whilst I went to park up. Says open until 11pm friend came out saying a woman she’d never seen before told her they weren’t serving because it was quiet so she was closing early. Apparently usually a really friendly place with a bloke serving but even my friend said she won’t go back whilst that woman’s working there. Lost 3 customers and a local, which if there was only one customer in clearly they need, seen a old woman come to the door as we were driving off, who my friend said was the person who said it was closing but didn’t close the door, this was 10.10. With an attitude like that no wonder no one was in there. Went garage bought a few drinks and enjoyed a quiet drink in my friends garden, a lot cheaper and as I didn’t need to drive enjoyed a few myself. People say use it or loose when it comes to little country pubs, definitely think this will be one that people won’t be...
