The accommodation was fabulous and in a great location. I had a warm friendly welcome when I arrived and that was echoed in my room with a personalised welcome note with a couple of chocolate treats. My booking didn't include breakfast so I paid for that by card on arrival. I was pleasantly impressed by my room which was very comfortable, cosy and clean however the WiFi wasn't a secure network so I couldn't connect. I had planned to have breakfast before checking out in the morning but when I went downstairs the reception, bar area and breakfast area was deserted. I rang the bell on reception 4 times over several minutes and then ended up having to walk round each area to try to find someone. A girl in the kitchen caught sight of me and sent a colleague out. At this stage I didn't really have enough time for breakfast so I asked for a refund for the payment I'd made on arrival and said I'd check out. This colleague couldn't do the refund so he got another colleague to help sort the refund for me. This was obviously an inconvenience to this lady and I got a very frosty response from her and she then questioned why I needed a refund. I explained why and was told she didn't know how to do it on the computer or tye card machine and that I'd get a refund in 5 to 10 days. I gave some advice on how she may be able to do the refund on the card machine but my suggestion was not welcomed and she repeated that she didn't know how to do it and I'd get a refund in 5 to 10 days. I had hoped for a payment receipt but didn't get that either. Customer service certainly wasn't her strong point and her behaviour clearly demonstrated that. She was annoyed by the inconvenience and so I'm not hopeful of getting my refund any time soon. I would highly recommend the lovely accommodation but not her approach to customers. I'll probably consider staying somewhere else next time as a result of her lack of customer service. I travel a lot for work so do stay in hotels frequently. It's a shame really because the lady who was on reception when I checked in was fabulous and very welcoming so the complete opposite to her colleague.

We booked for 6 nights but left after 5 days as the weather was not good for our plans for the last day. Let's start with the positives: lovely friendly staff, we got a large room with a balcony and a view to the bridge and sea which was beautiful. We spent some time outside in the sunshine enjoying this. Had a couple of pints a few evenings in the pub at the ground floor which was reasonably priced and again, very friendly staff. Area is very quiet, noise won't wake you up. Bed was comfortable for me, my husband found it a bit hard for him but overall was fine. Pillows were good, clean room, hot water, plenty of storage space - maybe even too much. Now the negatives: while walls were clean and everything was clean, room seen better days so would need a little refurb. Crack on the ceiling needs looking at. While we had hot water, water pressure was very low. My main disappointment was the breakfast. You can have everything with full english but lack of healthy options. Porridge is on the menu but been told on multiple days that they don't have Porridge so ended up going to Morrisons and bought some porridge pots and made it in our room. I understand that might not be much demand for porridge but hotel could do the same, buy some pots and problem solved. It would take to prepare less time as cooking a full english. Full english was fine, way too much oil used for my liking but overall its a hotel full english, exactly what you can expect. Overall the hotel met our expectations, was a good spot for our daily activities.

The Victoria could be summed up in one name, and that is Stevie. Stevie is what lifts this hotel/pub out of the ordinary. Stevie greeted us at reception and immediately made us feel welcome and at home. Her focus is very obviously on the guests. Our little group were talking about her in glowing terms all the way to our rooms. "She's very nice and helpful, isn't she?" Would have been the gist of our comments. It's a pleasant looking hotel from the outside and nicely located close to the centre and to some pleasant walks along the Menai Strait. Our room had a nice view from our balcony down towards the Great Orme on the mainland. The rooms are nicely presented overall. Our king-sized bed was enormous, and the T.V. was of similar proportions and had plenty of channels. We didn't get to experience all the facilities of The Victoria because we were restricted as to where we could go due to our dog and that is perfectly understandable. For instance we ate in the Bar as opposed to the dining area. The breakfast was very good and the service was pleasant and efficient. There were a couple of minor issues we had, but once we brought them to Stevies attention, they were dealt with efficiently and with gratitude for pointing them out. Stevie is an additional star for this hotel classification. With her as the General Manager, The Victoria will be a very commendable destination for anyone visiting Menai Bridge.

Parking was tight when we arrived late afternoon and we left our car in an undesignated spot that appeared not to compromise safety for any visitor. Check-in was friendly and efficient, good first impressions, We were directed to room 1 on the ground floor, quite spacious (it is the room with disability access and facilities) with a super king-size bed. |However, we had a poor night’s sleep. Obviously I don’t know the floor plans but plumbing from above room(s) before we tried to sleep and a 7.27am alarm call that sounded as though someone was breaking in from an adjacent room, the kitchen maybe and then constant audible chat. |The wet room radiator was an issue during the night, on full and overheating the whole room, a note regarding this would have been appreciated. It is governed with two lockshield valves and without a TRV to make heat control simple. I know bathroom towel rails often have this set up but as I said a note would have been useful. During the night I had to turn the heating off. The sink was difficult to use, in a spacious room disproportionally small that I believe a wheelchair user would struggle with. The central drain in the floor did not cope with my shower, my wife had to warn me that water was dangerously close to gaining access to the bedroom. |A good variety of teas provided but not enough of each and a bottle of water would have been good instead of trying to wrestle the kettle under the tap. |I accept hotel bar prices but please serve a full pint and if a customer asks politely for the glass to be topped up please oblige with a smile|As per the title the breakfast was excellent, served in a lovely room overlooking the terrace that in warm weather must be an absolute delight. Options were good and service was exemplary|At £166 a night room 1 didn’t represent value for money in my opinion given the number of noises we had to endure from other rooms. Bed and breakfast requires two good elements, we felt we were let down by one|Hope some of this feedback is useful, very, very few places are perfect! We did respond to the emailed survey but have not received a reply to date hence this...

We stayed over with our grandson (who is 11 months old), as I am originally from the area I wanted to take my Partner and grandson over for a couple of days, but when trying to book the stay we could not get in touch with anyone direct as there wasn't a number, I did call the company contact number and left a message, but nobody got back to us, I had to ask a friend who lives locally to go in to the hotel and get contact number as unsure about what size room we would need, I phoned and explained what we would be staying with a baby, we paid extra and booked deluxe room only to realise there was no lift and not very practical with a baby, luggage, pram etc and then being up 2 flights of stairs, then the tiny bathroom, which wasn't great for washing baby, especially as the shower wasn't draining sufficiently and water rolling over ledge onto floor.. The baby woke early and thought we'd put the tv to entertain him and make a coffee, only for the trip switch to go, leaving us with no wall lights, coffee facilities or tv. I tried calling down to reception and no reply! We checking out early and couldn't find anyone to discuss the issues with (can only assume they were helping with breakfast service etc as we stop at reception for ages), We felt a little let down, I know its a new hotel with new team of staff and probably teething issues, but when spending close to £200 for a room without breakfast and then not even have the facilities to heat up water to do power switch tripping, I felt let down having no contact prior to booking, then not even able to see anyone to discuss issues as we left back home to merseyside. As much as it's a wonderful looking hotel, location and would love to return, I found it tedious having to queue for ages at every bars, then sitting at tables where they are full of empty glasses as nobody clearing tables and when I wanted glasses and ice for the room to enjoy a drink, we had to again stand and wait while there was nobody on the floor to assist. I did email the company when we returned home and still have not even received a reply from anyone since our stay...
