To be honest I'm debating if I should write this review or not because The Wenvoe Arms is already becoming more and more popular every time we go and I don't want the secret to get out that this place is undoubtedly the best place to go for food and a relaxed country atmosphere arguably in the world. (Yeah I said it!)
The food is absolutely to die for and I genuinely mean that. Everything is fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious when having a nice sit-down meal and then to make matters even better, outside there's an amazing pizza shack and a remarkably posh fish and chips van on the weekends (Not sure if it's still running during the winter months but definitely worth a try when it gets warmer) Then there is the staff, the truly amazing, kind, attentive and welcoming people you could ever hope to be looking after you. Whoever is doing the hiring for this place is clearly doing their job right because everyone is wonderful. I just want to give a massive shout out to the lady who served us today, she was fairly new but went above and beyond for us and couldn't make us feel more welcome and make us genuinely chuckle.
After moving to the area a couple of months ago and introducing everyone I know to this place it has become the go-to for any birthday, celebration or just a good ol' sit-down and chats over some amazing food. I cannot rate this place highly enough and I can't stop recommending this.

Read moreAwful place and awful service! Website must be ancient as pictures on there are certainly not the same drab, dark, dreary and dreadful place we experienced. No welcome - in fact almost hostile reception and service. Traditional Boxing Day walk and pub lunch was cut short when we were made to feel totally unwelcome by older man behind bar. Wanted to sample an ale and whilst deciding was asked âshall i come back in an hour?â Asked for a âsmallâ taste of ale to be told aggressively â thatâs all youâre getting.â Should have followed our instincts and left but we had been looking forward to food in front of the real fire and a few drinks to warm us up after our long Boxing Day walk. So we just ordered halves and some crisps. I couldnât see what flavour crisps were in the boxes and was not offered to be told - just tutted at as i struggled to read the labels. Still donât understand how i asked and thought i paid for 3 packets (1each) but only received 2 and a curt âthatâs all she paid for.â Even the man sat at the bar and the young barman looked uncomfortable at the attitude i was receiving. Always wanted to try out what could be a new regular haunt for us but wonât go near this dreadful...
Read moreUtterly Awful on all fronts service and food very poor and over priced for what we had. When we arrived a request to sit near fire for my mum was declined and told it's not cold the heating is on. Fair enough as we would of taken a table of 4 for 2 of us. But please speak a bit more respectful not muttering to the chef lady said it was cold the heating is on this was overheard. Appreciate the lady serving was running about and we weren't don't be so defensive and rude in your tone and manner . Served a drink and menu within minutes can't fault that. . Curry of the day ordered and this was chicken and beef. Beef extremely tough; chicken curry was watery and no flavour at all. Poppadoms were stale and fair to say so was the service and certainly no after service. We left a lot and when paid no check from the lady I guess landlady if everything was ok. Shame as we eat out a lot and and fair to say worse meal had out in years and now we probably guess why many tables were empty.
Won't be returning and I would think about what you order as home made curry beef and curry very bland and watered down.
Shame but need to be honest for you to improve on service and...
