A location to die for to have a meal. Booking is optional, we were walked ins. Sat on the sun drenched terrace. There is a spacious bar/lounge as well as a garden. Ample free parking, but it can get busy, as it was on the Sunday lunch time when we visited. Good range of Bragdy Conwy ales on draught as well as lagers, ciders and Guinness - we chose the Beachcomber, which was expertly served by Will who was able to provide verbal tasting notes. There is a good variety of zero and low alcohol drinks in bottles. Menus are on the tables. Attract a member of the "nomadic" staff and they will take your order for food as well as drinks. The pickled muscles were a perfect palate preparer for our group of three, to be followed by Sea Bass, Fish Pie and Chicken Caesar Salad. Beautifully cooked, presented and served by Ellen and Abby. Despite being busy our food appeared quickly and was hot enough. To eat with extensive views down the west coast of Anglesey over the small cove of Borthwen, on over Newborough Warren to the Welsh 3000s of Snowdonia, Lleyn Peninsular and over a glittering blue sea is something I shall treasure for a long time. The pub is well- behaved-dog friendly.

We visited here since previously walking past and wanting to give it a try. On arrival, it was pretty busy and (totally our personal problem) we have a reactive dog. This place had quite a lot of dogs and children so the staff allowed us to stay outside where you’re not normally supposed to be served food. We really appreciated this and it made the world of difference and we really appreciate the staff going out of their way to accommodate us. The menu was classic with a decent range, slightly on the pricier side, however every single thing we ordered was really tasty and the service was great, despite the business, which justified this. I had some small plates which were great, the hot honey chicken wings were a favourite, and the fish and chips was a great portion, as well as the steak which was well cooked with really well cooked, soft but crispy chips. Lovely location for a walk before/after also. Would definitely recommend here, whether it be for a drink or food! And if we lived closer we would definitely return.

Called in today after having a great day on Anglesey visiting south stack lighthouse. My wife and I were both hungry and thirsty so headed to this pub restaurant for refreshments. The place is in a great location We were asked if we had booked and as the place was quiet we were given menus and chose to sit outside at a table the lady said she would take our order shortly. After waiting 10 mins no-one came to see what we wanted and we were offered neither food nor drinks. My wife went inside to see what the problem was and ordered drinks from the bar after the barman appeared to be playing hide and seek. Staff including the one who gave us the menus walked past our table to clear glasses from the lower terrace with picnic type tables. On their way back they again passed our table and didn't acknowledge we were even there. We finished our drinks and left. Went to another pub on Anglesey had great service and good meal. I don't like leaving negative reviews but the White Eagle needs to be AVOIDED.

This restaurant has caused me to suffer severe and significant food poisoning. They have shown absolutely no interest in my experience or in making sure this doesn’t happen to anybody else. I have never, ever left a bad review of a restaurant before in my life and I didn’t want to have to write this one either but unfortunately they have left me with no choice.

My partner and I attended on 5th April for a meal to celebrate his 40th birthday whilst on holiday in the area. I had steak and he had lamb. We both had a soft drink and a dessert. The meal came to £85.00, (so far from cheap). My steak, whilst cooked and seasoned well, had a funny taste on the fatty edge and so I left that bit but ate the rest.

Later that evening I was violently and severely unwell, to the point where I was frightened I would need to go to hospital. Neither of us got any sleep and we had a 3 hour drive home the following day.

I reported via the restaurant’s Facebook messenger first thing in the morning that I have suffered severe and serious food poisoning. I was told the message would be passed to a manager and that she would be in touch. I messaged again later that day to ask when she would be in touch, and had a response at nearly 11:00pm that night to say they were not sure when but “she will be at some point”. This is entirely unacceptable and shows me they have not taken what they have done seriously whatsoever. I told them as much and they asked for my email address and telephone number which I provided. It is now Saturday and I have heard nothing. For all I know they could be serving the same meat.

This experience ruined my partner’s 40th birthday and the last day of our holidays. I was violently unwell and I am alarmed, to say the very least, that they have shown no concern or regard whatsoever for the fact that their kitchen, and meat served from that kitchen, has poisoned me.

I am a fit and healthy 35 year old. If I had been elderly, frail or had any underlying health conditions this would have been incredibly serious and I have no doubt would’ve ended with me being hospitalised, at best. I have never felt that unwell before in my life and I hope never to feel that way again.

I am disgusted, disappointed and I am now angry. The lack of response is rude, aside from anything else. They clearly don’t care and I have never experienced such disappointing...

Ordered some Stout Sourdough to nibble on while we decided on what to order for our meal. At £4, we were expecting lovely hot homemade bread, rich with stout. What we got were two slices of cold, bought-in bread with no hint of stout and potentially not even a sourdough. Not a good start...

Settled onto our starters of caramelised figs and scallops with black pudding. The figs themselves were topped with a caramel glaze, but were themselves cold and uncooked. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but in this case the figs were very underripe so didn't make for the best experience. The scallops were tiny, undercooked and under-seasoned. They were just about edible, but tough and stringy and didn't have any flavour at all. Even the black pudding crumb was pretty bland and tasteless which I can't quite understand. At £7 and £12 respectively, we were very disappointed with our starters.

For mains we had halibut and hake, which were both well cooked and tasty, but overall not the most exciting of dishes.

Service was patchy at best. We had various waiting staff confusedly come over to us chasing wrong orders and getting muddled about what stage of our meal we were at. Queries about the stout sourdough and comments about undercooked scallops weren't really addressed and didn't feel like they were taken on board at all.

Overall, a fairly substandard meal for the price, which came to over £70 for two courses and a couple of drinks for two people.

Sadly I cannot recommend, which is a shame because the menu promises so much, and the...

This place puzzles me. It has had consistently great reviews over a number of years but on the occasions I've visited it has been distinctly average.

Having only just managed to book one of the last tables we arrived to the place being only 75% full. The licensee explained that the had 16 cancellations on that day, which could be a financial disaster for a businesss.

But despite a great start, with tasty torched mackerel and scallops our experience suddenly went downhill. We both ordered steaks, one rare, one medium rare. Both turned up medium, but also wafer thin and pretty tasteless apart from the garlic butter.

Anyone who knows how to cook a steak knows how difficult cooking a thin steak can be. Which is what puzzles me; why would the kitchen order steaks so thin?

Knowing that it wouldn't be the profit margins of the business, not just the steaks that would be wafer thin, we ate on hoping that the newly arrived Merlot would sharpen the Taste and didn't send anything back. Sadly that too was insipid and unlike a quality Merlot we were promised from the menu.

Desert too was uninspiring. What could have been a tasty, chocolaty and snappy tart was simply a chocolate tart that appeared to have been freshly released from its 3663 packaging, not from a loving pastry chef.

So it puzzles me that this place never seems to inspire me but another thing really puzzled me. The waiter consistently asked us if everything was OK and we have him our honest feedback but nothing was proffered in return. He didn't...
