For the past 5 years we have had our Christmas lunch on Christmas Eve at home. This year my daughter booked The Woodman festive fayre menu as our family Christmas lunch. We booked for 7pm on Christmas eve as my husband had been working during the day. We confirmed our menu choices via email a week beforehand. We arrived and were shown to our table. Disappointed that there were no Christmas crackers on the table. We even had crackers at Vesuvios Italian restaurant when we went for a staff Christmas party! They put menus on the table and took our drinks order. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for our drinks. My husband asked why they gave us menus when we had pre-ordered so mentioned this to the waitress. She took the menus and came back 10 minutes later to reassure us that we hadn't been forgotten about and that our food would be with us shortly. In fairness, the chicken liver Parfait tasted nice and looked appealing on the plate. When they collected the plates, my husband asked what veg was available. We were told sprouts(traditional) cabbage, carrots and broccoli. When the food turned up quite disappointed that there were no sprouts! No roast parsnip although they weren't listed in the description still traditional! No boiled or mashed potatoes only roasts. A single pig in blanket! Anyway, what we did have was tasty and more importantly served hot. The waitress who served our desserts carried all four to our table. The cream off one of the plates was spread all over the bottom of another plate and she literally threw (not placed) the spoons into the centre of the table! The gingerbread cheesecake was again delicious. We left disappointed, not with the food so much but the lack of effort and customer service especially at such a special time of the year. The disappointment bothered me so much that I cooked a Christmas roast on Christmas day with all the traditional trimmings!! We won't be...

I had the pleasure of working as a junior chef at The Woodman in Swansea, and my experience was nothing short of fantastic. The warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with the pub's commitment to excellence, truly sets it apart.
One of the standout features of The Woodman is its dog-friendly policy, making it a delightful spot for both pet owners and those who simply love the company of furry friends. The pub's dedication to inclusivity adds a unique touch to the overall experience.
The Sunday roast dinners at The Woodman are a culinary masterpiece. As a former junior chef, I can attest to the meticulous preparation and attention to detail that goes into every dish. The roast dinners featuring pork, beef, and turkey are a Sunday tradition that I eagerly looked forward to each week. The quality of the ingredients and the skillful execution make these meals a must-try for anyone seeking a hearty and delicious dining experience.
The staff at The Woodman are not only skilled professionals but also genuinely friendly and accommodating. Their passion for creating a welcoming environment is evident in every interaction, making patrons feel like part of a tight-knit community.

Read moreFree parking, would advise you book a table, we didn't book and had to wait about an hour and a quarter so our late lunch turned into an early dinner. Every one had non alcoholic drinks which were diet and regular Coke, regular size £2.20 and ex large £2.80 (although they appeared to be the same size glass) orange juice was £2.95 and and Beck's Blue was £2.85. (I'm a bit out of touch with drinks prices so have listed them so you may judge for yourself if they are reasonable). Décor and atmosphere very nice, staff friendly and the food tasted very nice although the portions of the chips and the children's meals could have been a bit larger.

Visited with my wife and dog (been for a walk in Clyne Gardens which is adjacent to the pub) and dropped in for lunch. My wife ordered the vegi burger and chips and i had the serloin steak and chips with garlic and mushroom sauce. Both meals were very nice, steak was cooked to perfection and burger actually tasted like a meat burger and the portion size was good. The server was very polite and the service was quick. The only negative was that the portion of the sauce was a bit on the small side. Dog friendly area was very nice and dog biscuits and fresh water were available, the dog enjoyed both. The pub was clean, tidy and has a nice atmosphere, parking available close by. Very enjoyable and stress free experience and we shall be...
