What a shambles. We pre booked a table for ‘steak Thursday’ a few days in advance and was really looking forward to the meal based on the fantastic photos on facebook. We arrived at 6:30pm, table wasn’t ready and a random one was cleaned and we were sat down. Booked meal purely based on wanting the amazing ‘Facebook special’ steak night meal, was told upon ordering that it was not available due to them being ‘busy’ - pub was about 1/4 full. Disappointed I ordered a normal steak off the menu, staff had to ask what came with it different to the menu than the Facebook posts. Wanted to order sides and was told they had none left in stock, 1.5 hours Into food service. Waited 40 minutes for food to arrive. Food was very good, better than expected after a bad start to the meal. Shame really, food could be amazing if there was more consistency and continuity. Waited 20 minutes for plates to be taken away and asked staff if there is any desserts as no dessert menus on table, was given options and asked for a chocolate fudge cake and staff said no problem. 25 minutes later staff returned to table and said if we wanted dessert we had to order at the bar even tho we wasn’t told! Absolutely joke and really ruined an already not great visit. Atmosphere in the pub was shocking - children running around the pub and behind the bar obviously children of the bar staff and waitresses. Gave wacky wharehouse vibes, all in all potential to provide excellent good value food but major room for improvement...

This was my first visit to the One man and his dog after it has been taken over. I had heard great things regarding service, food and the great atmosphere and cosmetic uplift inside. However, nothing could have prepared me for what I actually experienced. We were late booking our table due to it being an off chance we decided to go for food. The bar staff were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome and the service we received was outstanding. Not only did the staff go out of their way to make us feel comfortable, but they could not help us more if they tried. Furthermore, the food we received and enjoyed was exquisite, the flavours and quality of food was nothing I had experienced from The one man and his dog before. The variety and quality is but one reason I shall be returning to the one man and his dog, for many occasions to come. I have already booked my annual Christmas meal with life long friends, as I want to share the experience I received with those I hold dear to me. I can only thank everyone who made my night so special and look forward to...

I’ve been in the “one man and his dog “ public house many times for food and a pint ! So today I went in to sample the food as I am taking my friend out for a meal next week and we always say we’re gonna go in the one man, but at times they didn’t always have food on. I ordered from the lunch menu which was fish and chips, mushy peas with sauces and I must say the meal was enormous far more than I expected ! The young girl behind the bar was very attentive and Becky is the perfect Host chatty, friendly and very interactive. As I said, the meal was delicious ..it was piping hot I had home-made chips (which I love ) and a pint of Cruzcampo what more could you want on a Wednesday afternoon. The pub was quiet. There was only a two couples in one with the baby and a regular drinker at the bar but it’s super clean… It’s inviting… It’ It feels like they genuinely want to be there the ensure that you are happy ! And as I said ..the staff were most welcoming ..I shall be definitely booking for next week. Thank you for that...

First time here. We came here last minute on a Sunday. Booking is recommended as it was quite busy. They serve roast dinners only on a Sunday. A child friendly range would make it better. (For the fussy children), however, they managed to find some chicken nuggets for my little one, so he had nuggets and potatoes, but this isn't on the menu for Sundays The food was great!! I thought it was a bit pricey at first £12 for medium. But it was actually worth it. Friendly staff, there was one in particular from start to finish she was amazing, she managed to fit us in, if I had cash I would had tipped her. Next time. She found us the chicken nuggets, and she had overall great customer service (I don't know her name. She was serving the food to the table). The owners greeted us goodbye as we left to. Nice outdoor area, playground too. Lots of parking. Family friendly ❤️

Me and my Mrs came here the other week for an early ‘valentines meal’ as work/kids and life gets in the way. We were blown away by the standard of food we ate, I had the biggest steak on the menu and she had the chicken kebab and both were miles above anything else we’ve tasted at other places. The service was quick and efficient and I don’t think we ate again for the rest of the day and we had our meal about 1pm! Will 1million% be going back the next chance we get.

First impressions the new decor was good. However, the pool table area was ridiculously loud. The beer was good and we had no problem finding a table. The meal was an anticlimax out of 7 diners 3 were ok but not great the 2 were ok and 2 were appalling. The wait for food was far too long considering the fact that there was only one other table dining. The meal was transport cafe standard at best.
