This is the first time I have been since the change of ownership. It still looks great inside. Menu wasn't quite what I expected. The various ingredients of an English breakfast were there, but I didn't spot it on the menu. The menu wasn't entirely clear, lots of ambiguity on it. Even the member of staff i asked about the sausage bloomer wasn't entirely sure what it included. I chose the avocado and bacon on sourdough. My father chose the same with egg in addition. Also had coffees. My father's breakfast arrived, but mine seemed to have been forgotten. His bacon looked fresh and the egg was bits of hardboiled egg. Not what either of us had expected but the menu hadn't explicitly said it wasn't hard boiled egg. The toast was cold though and hard to cut through since it has lost its moisture. A member of staff walked by and asked whether the breakfast was fine and was surprised when I pointed out that I was still waiting for mine. My breakfast arrived 2 minutes later and looked horrible. The bacon was cold with congealed white fat on it and was tough and unpleasant. The toast was also cold and not fresh so hard to cut. The avocado was fine though!!! After just trying one mouthful I returned the food. Apparently much of the food is not cooked fresh. It is such a shame because it is a lovely building, nice decor and in a lovely location. Credit to the staff who were apologetic and immediately refunded the dish and then offered me some cake on the house. The cake was pretty standard. The best part of the breakfast was the coffee, no complaints at all about the latte or the cappuccino. I do hope the menu clarity and quality issues are addressed because I do...
Read moreThe service is great and cafe itself is lovely but the menu is too high end and expensive. I am well connected locally and the general feeling is the same, in that if you want a basic sandwich (chicken salad/cheese/bacon/egg etc), this is not the place! It will be a very fancy sandwich or meal and pretty pricey at that (circa £7 for a sandwich). Coffee is lovely and fairly comparably priced but I think the menu would be better suited to primrose hill or Chelsea rather than Watford! There is a chiller cabinet as you enter filled with drinks - on one occasion a I wanted a basic sandwich to pick up and take away, but no can do! I would have to order a very fancy "sourdough" concoction and wait 15 mins for it to be made, so the quick take away option is ruled out also. I think with the right menu, if there was a take away option I might even stop off on my way from the station which is nearby. That said, the cakes and...
Read moreGreat food, charming and friendly staff! It is a lovely cafe with plenty of outdoor sitting. Perfect spot to have a drink if weather permitted. There is a kids playground (for younger one) with sand pit next to the cafe. I can oversee my kids in the playground and I can still enjoy my lunch.
The food served in the cafe are definitely high quality. In ordered a mezze platter, toasties and sausage roll. The toasties are crispy and hot with proper ham and melted cheese. The mezze platter is freshly made with fresh salad and zingy hummus (with a lot of tasty things, can't write all of them). I never expect food in a park cafe have such a high quality.
Highly recommend for anyone wants to have some proper food and enjoy the...
