As I went in it looked to have the potential to be really good, clean, American style booths and attractive display of ice creams and gateaux, after that it went down hill. The "host showed us to our table gave us a menu and left. After waiting nearly 15 minutes we were told they don't have waiting staff you go to the counter inform them what you want, pay and wait. The sundaes look bigger on the menu than they are in reality, I asked if my vanilla ice cream could be replaced with a flavoured one and was told no because my desert came with hot chocolate brownie mixed in...It didn't it came with a cold chocolate brownie underneath a portion of vanilla ice cream. My sundae was brought out, followed by my coffee a minute later, my wife's coffee appeared about 2 minutes after that and her crepes about a further 5-10 minutes later, I had finished my sundae before hers arrived, to add insult to injury her crepes with salted caramel and banana was delivered without any banana!! I complained and they said we will cook you another one, they did and she enjoyed it (which is why they have 2 stars and not one) My advice, employ waiting staff who know what they are doing, don't wear plastic gloves all the time it make me wonder where your hands have been, and deliver an entire order to a table in one hit. And lose the kids play area if people go in for a coffee and an ice cream they want to chat and not be drowned out by...
Read moreWe'd had dinner elsewhere and when thinking about pudding, decided to visit Creams - not least as it was a Tuesday and their website clearly advertises a "2 for £10" special offer on Tuesdays (see photo - it's also currently still clearly advertised on their website).
On arrival the place was pretty much empty, gelato freezer was half empty (and all looked quite melted) and the staff were milling about not doing much - took a couple of minutes for one to come and see us as we waited by the "wait here to be seated" sign.
Having sat down and looked through the menu, on checking with a member of staff at the counter when we were ready to order, the member of staff said they don't do the Tuesday deal "other branches might do it but we don't". No apology, just a flat refusal to honour the offer they clearly advertise for the Watford branch on their website.
We'd planned to buy more than just the waffles, but due to the indifferent attitude of the staff and their advertising being a work of fiction (who knows if the menu prices would actually be right?!) we went round the corner and bought waffles from Sainsbury's - where they were the advertised price.
If you want surly uninterested staff, false advertising and a lacklustre experience go to Creams. If you actually want reasonable customer service and what a business advertises - go...
Read moreRickmansworth Branch. Excited at prospect of ice cream parlour. Had to guess what to do, sit at booth and then order, knowing the number of your table. Bloke serving me served 3 people at the same time! Told it would be a 10 minute wait which it was. However, crepes arrived and then 3/4 way through the crepe my husbands coffee arrived and then the bloke who had taken my order arrived to say my drink was not available so could I order something else. I ordered a coffee at 20p cheaper than the original but was not offered a refund! The crepe was tasty and a good portion size. I was concerned that in the 45 minutes I was in the shop not one person washed their hands at the sink (which was blocked by a big dustbin). Gloves were worn, being taken off and the same pair put back on except by the bloke who served us. He wore the same gloves to serve at the counter, take money, prepare food and serve at the tables. I have a big issue with people who handle money and food without washing their hands or at the very least changing their gloves, it is well documented that money is filthy! The floor around the counter and from what I could see behind the counter needed sweeping. As someone else said, a few smiles would have been very nice. The youngsters working did work non-stop, all credit to them. Will I go again? I shall think...
