Overpriced food and drinks, especially when compared to the Little Barn which is right around the corner which offers delicious food and coffee.
Their food is ok (when they have what you want in stock), and their coffee is decent. But for some reason they're charging luxury prices while making you sit at an Ikea esque kitchen table and chairs.
What makes the pricing worse is that the portions are so small, take the cakes for example, for less money at the little barn you get a massive wedge (arguably too much) at South Downs you get a tiny square which is just a joke.
I'm going to stop here because I don't want to slate it too much because like I said the food and coffee is actually decent and if it was priced at the kind of establishment it is rather than pricing it like a café in London it would have got a solid 4.
I also need to keep my options open for when the Little Barn is full so don't want to be blacklisted.
I will end on a positive though - they do a good job at offering a Gluten Free options where possible, not enough Cafes do that and being Celiac it's...
Read moreYou will get better coffee for £1.50 out of a machine from an off-licence! Have come here a couple times over the last few years and slowly the quality and service has just got worse. Came here last Sunday and brought two takeaway mocha's and two croissants. Worst coffee and croissants I've ever had. Went straight in the bin! The mocha's were watered down and tasted nothing of coffee or hotchocolate. Just water with some flavouring! The croissants were burnt and rock hard so most likely been sat there for 2 days. £13.00 down the drain. This place has seriously gone down and the staff have no idea how to make coffee. The owners of thjs establishment should seriously be ashamed for the quality of what they sell and for the cost they sell them at. Save your money and go somewhere else. Will never come...
Read moreAbsolutely awful experience. Food was priced in line with general Surrey prices which in itself is not the problem. We ordered sourdough with avocado and roast tomatoes for just under £8 each. What we were served, however, was the cheapest white bap with avocado smeared thinner than butter would have been and warmed up tinned tomatoes on it. It was a soggy mess. Perhaps it didn't help that we visited on a Sunday. Atmosphere is very stark and uninviting as well. So much could be done to improve the space. So definetly no repeat visits from us...
