What a terrible experience our family had here today that's completely ruined mother's day! Firstly (before we even got there) my mum called to confirm the time of our booking. Mum confirmed the name and numbers. The lady on the phone then corrected my mum and said she had booked for 9 people instead of 5! She just wouldn't have it. Anyway we still went. Upon my mum and I checking in I gave the name and said for 5 people, the lady who received us corrected me! Apparently I should have said 4 people and a highchair. It wasn't what she said it was how she said it, like I'm a child! So she goes to show us to our table at the end of the dinning room. My mum was linked to my arm to aid her walking. The lady then decided to loudly announce to me (not my mum) that if she had known the lady had mobility issues she would have sat us near the top. How embarrassing for my poor mum, who by the way is completely competent. My sister and her toddler then joined the table. We ordered drinks, my mums latte was cold and had to be re made. We waited quiet a while to finally have our orders taken. My mum and sister are both vegetarians. They wanted the carvery with the veg Wellington. So that needed to be made in advance. We were told when they were ready they would let us know. A while later a waitress told us the veg Wellingtons were at the carvery and to join the que. So we duly did so. My mum took hers, put a few veg on as she could barely walk. Then we were told my mum was given someone else's and my sister's wasn't ready. My sister was stood there holding her Toddler. I was doing my daughters carvery and mine, and then was going to do my sisters. Over 20 minutes later it turns up at the carvery! My sister's Toddler asleep in her arms, mum's finished eating, mine is cold as I'm still waiting with my sister at the carvery! Finally we get to our table and my sisters pastry is raw! This is at £26.50 per head with pudding! I also have to point out that they re did my sister's vegetables, something my sister should have been given the choice to do minus her yorkshire pudding. Anyway the food was average, potatoes were strange, all a bit bland. It was empty by the time we were offered pudding. The lady was checking her watch on us. Pudding was OK, rushed! Literally the last mouthful goes in and we get told we had 5 minutes left and then we'd have to leave because the next sitting starts. I tried explaining why we were so long and was cut off by the lady who then processed to walk off. So rude! So we went to pay. By this stage I'm so upset with the food and service. So I start to explain my grievances. Whilst talking to the bar staff the carvery lady walks over exclaiming that we only waited a couple of seconds and were happy to do so. I tried saying it was nearly 20 and the one finally served was raw! Then he cut me straight off telling me I was interrupting him!!! He was actually interrupting me!!!! He was god awful rude!! They way he was talking to us was disgusting. I gave my sister my card and actually walked out! Never ever have I ever been spoken to so badly in that setting. They were rude to my mum and sister after I left too!...

We went late on a Wednesday lunchtime. Although the decor is very old fashioned the food was delicious, and the menu extensive. Don’t judge it by sticking your head around the door, at least look at the menu. We had simple ham, egg, and chips. A simple dish, but those are the ones difficult to get right, and it was perfect for me but my husband didn’t think it was hand carved. It was a quiet day and time, so quick. We sat near a table of four and their food looked amazing, especially the pizza. (Easiest to view without being invasive) My only comment would be that the plates were cold at the edges, but the chips were hot enough to say warm to the end of the meal. A rare event in my experience. We will return and have pizza, I think, as there was a large variety. I think Tuesday evening is pizza night, Friday is fish, and Saturday is steak, I think? We had two puddings, chocolate cake with a drizzle of cream and chocolate sauce and a cheesecake with a drizzle cream and chocolate sauce oh and a sprinkling of icing sugar. We had two decaffeinated cappuccinos. So for a cider, sparkling water, two mains, two puddings, and two coffees it was £50 as there was a 20% discount due to being midweek and probably lunchtime. I can’t remember. We live in the area so we will definitely be back, but as I said, please don’t judge it by the decor. The waitress was lovely too patient funny attentive but not too much. Have gluten free and vegetarian options too. There didn’t seem to be much parking, but I may have missed a car...

Wow… what an amazing restaurant. Everything about this place was on point.. Service was the best I’d ever had, the food the nicest I’d had and a real cute and cosy place to eat. I went there with my partner and we were given a super romantic table within the bay window which was semi enclosed - making a private and romantic dining area. We had moules as a starter and it was he most amazing sauce I’d ever had - so smooth and velvety and rich! If they sold the sauce on its own I’d most certainly buy it by the gallon! For main I had the fish pie which was the best fish pie I’d ever had - absolute perfection! Portion sizes are spot on so really good value for money. I was so full from the starter and main I doubted would have a dessert but agreed to look at the menu anyway - it would be rude not to!… anyway, all the desserts are on a trolley which they wheel in front of you - and of course how I could resist getting one! It was a hard choice but I had the honeycomb cheesecake and it was to die for - you could taste the set honey running through it… Needless to say I almost had to be rolled out of there and I felt blissed out for quite some time after! Thank you everyone at The Woolpack on Tuesday evening 3rd December 2024 - absolutely perfect evening and I have zero hesitation in recommending to everyone who is in the area. I’m happy to say only live about 40 minutes away from Elstead so I absolutely will be...

Had a beer Monday night. Ordered take away of 2 pizzas and fish & chips. Pizzas were fine, the f & c were the worst I have had. The few chips I had were barely warm and tasted of oil. The fish similar. Bad news when the best part was the wedge of lemon. Really poor. And why does the payment register on my bank account as paid to what looks like a care home? Won’t be rushing back!!

Nice "extra" Birthday dinner for my Dad. Good menu, quick attentive service, and not busy on a Monday lunchtime. I had the special menu Wagyu burger. The first burger ever to look like a belgian bun! You can't see the thick slice of juicy mushroom under the lid. Delicious. Dad had ham egg and chips. There was no comment but that's OK between blokes.
