The food was nice, the Lamb Dhansak was good, it was a good level of heat and the flavour was (although not very pronounced), good. The lamb was also cooked well, nice and soft. The Chicken Bhuna was alright, according to my partner. Unfortunately the poppadom wasn’t crisp and dry, it was somewhat soggy, and chewy, and the naan wasn’t cooked well either.
Enough compliments and mentioning the food, here’s the spicy details. As shown in the photo, we ordered our food via UberEats at 5:47 PM. I was in a rush as I had a train to catch to get back home, and if I missed that train I wouldn’t have made it home that evening, so we were sure to order ASAP. I saw it would take around an hour to be delivered, which was fine by me. OUR FOOD ARRIVED AT 7:30 PM! Just to clarify, I had to leave at 8! After about 45 minutes of seeing no updates on the app, we called and asked how long it would be. First time we called, 6:30, they said the food had just left, and would be there soon. It’s a 5 minute drive away. Nothing. 10 minutes later, called them again, said the food left 10 minutes ago and will be there soon. And repeat, but this time, said the food is just leaving now. Bear in mind, that’s about 15 minutes after they said it would be there at the latest. Repeat again, this time they said it left 15 minutes ago. After an hour of calling, each time they said the food had practically just left, it FINALLY arrived. We were starving, and I was going to be late. Funny thing is, the food was hot. Boiling hot, as though it had only just left the restaurant. So, either the delivery driver went for an hour long cruise and neglected to tell anybody, and has an entire oven in their car. Or, the restaurant was lying to us, and blaming it on UberEats giving us an inaccurate delivery time. You choose which is more likely :)
Not ordering from them again, that’s for sure. The Food was alright, but holy lord the service was atrocious.
Edit:
Oh, I forgot to mention that a decent amount of the Lamb Dhansak had spilled during the journey, which was not great to handle, there was oil and curry all...
Read moreWe ordered from here and was told 40 mins. Waited 1 hour 45 mins despite chasing twice and being told 15 mins each time. The food finally turned up and I couldn’t even just use the word disappointing because it was disgusting. The chicken tikka was dry as a desert with no flavour. The madras was so runny it had piles of water seeping to the side of the plate. The bhajis were dripping in oil and completely tasteless. The prawns were swimming in oil and again tasteless. Every single thing was disgusting, except the poppadoms (or so I thought). I complained and although the man was extremely rude, and told me I must be the problem as no one else complains (19 bad reviews on Facebook and several on google - wish I had read before ordering). He said he’d call back in 30 mins with a solution. I assumed it was just because he was busy. I rang back after 35 minutes and he said he was waiting to see if anyone else complained in the time to back my claims up but they hadn’t and he has run this business for 26 years successfully so I have a problem. Just plain rude. He offered 25% money back and I couldn’t be bothered to argue, so thought that’s better than nothing. I was going to just leave it after that and not bother with a review. Well I’ve just gone back to have some of my poppadoms since the rest of the meal was awful and it has a hair COOKED into it. You can’t pick it off as it is actually in the ingredients cooked into it. So they’re in the bin too. Avoid at all costs. Long waits, rude manager and...
Read moreBeen here several times. Will not go again. Don't order their king prawn dishes. They are obviously using some cheap flaky flesh alternative that tastes nothing like prawns. On one visit my friend had these so called king prawns that she couldn't eat, saying what on earth is this. On my latest visit with son we complained to the manager that this was not king prawn, he was very rude and said he would show us the king prawn. He then immediately made a flustered phone call lasting approx 15 mins (obviously trying to source a real king prawn). Then he brought one out trying to tell us they were cut in half which accounted for the two long (not curved pieces attached to a piece of shell shape). I tasted a piece and it was clearly not prawn but a flaky bland crustacean of some sort. The masala sauce for a biryani taste is sweet with little flavour and beware....check you bill thoroughly before paying. It's no mistake that extra drinks/food gets added as it's happened too many times. Things you send back like hot milk for a tea, they will try and charge you for. I didn't check my bill as we were upset as this meal was for my son's birthday and just wanted to get out. Sure enough we were billed for an extra poppadom. If you are a large party extra dishes/drinks added to your bill may go unnoticed. Make no mistake before the manager replies to this review...it is the EASTBOURNE K2. Oh and I had a prawn dish which they tried to pressure me to have as ing prawns, so...
