We did have to queue outside the gate for about 10 or 15 minutes, which was only to be expected considering how busy it had been up and around Pooh Bridge.
Initially we were intending on just visiting the shop, but while we were first in the queue, a table in the garden tea room came free. After enquiring if we were able to sit and have something to eat and drink, the staff checked to make sure they had no upcoming reservations first.
While waiting to find that out, I noted that there was quite a few staff members looking after the customers who were already seated and enjoying their tea/coffee and food. Once people finished and left, tables were cleared off and the tables and chairs were sprayed down and wiped off.
The staff were pretty quick at getting back to us and within a couple of minutes we were seated with a menu.
My daughter opted for a strawberry milkshake, I had a flat white coffee and a slice of carrot cake and my mother in law had a pot of tea and a cheese scone with cream and caramelised onion marmalade.
The milkshake was £4 but was nice and thick and made to order. I believe they were made with fresh ingredients rather than from a machine. My coffee and cake was £5.50 as was my mother in law's cheese scone cream tea. The food was really nice and we had no complaints at all about it or the service.
The Pooh shop is small but has a lot of Pooh stock. The prices on some were really expensive but I had expected that.
A pack of Pooh cards (can't remember the game they were for) was £7.95. A stuffed Tigger was £22.95. There was quite a decent range of stock though and my daughter picked out a postcard, a keyring £4.95 and a window sticker £2.50, while I picked up a lovely frame for £3.95.
This place is a great place to finish off a trip to see Pooh Bridge and I do recommend a visit. Please note that we got lucky with getting a table and I do advise ringing ahead and booking a table.
Masks also need to be worn unless you are exempt, so please keep that...
Read moreDear Pooh Corner Team,
I’m writing to share my disappointment following our visit today, which turned out to be a frustrating and disheartening experience for both myself and my family—especially my child, who had been excited for this outing tied to cherished childhood memories.
Despite some hesitation about visiting on a bank holiday, we checked your website beforehand and saw that you were open until 4:00 PM. To be certain, I attempted to call on five separate occasions between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, but received no answer.
We made the journey—over an hour long—and arrived just before 3:00 PM. Based on the signs displayed around the premises, we expected to be able to order food until 45 minutes before closing and teas or pastries up to 30 minutes before closing. By those standards, we were well within time.
However, we were surprised and disappointed to find the restaurant already closed. We asked the staff in the café, only to be met with a rude and unhelpful attitude. When I pointed out the timings clearly listed, the staff member passively dismissed our concerns and simply stated that because it was busy, “there’s nothing we can do.”
What was most frustrating is that, despite the claim of being busy, most of the tables were empty. It was clear that a simple tea or pastry could have easily been prepared—but staff appeared more interested in winding down early than serving customers. Frankly, it felt like a case of laziness and a lack of customer care.
After returning home, we also noticed price discrepancies on your website, adding to the sense that guests are being misinformed across the board.
This visit was something we had looked forward to for a long time, and we left feeling let down and dismissed. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Pooh Corner to others, and I hope you seriously reflect on how service and communication can be improved...
Read moreBefore even CONSIDERING going to this place you HAVE to be confident driving down small, narrow country lanes (and a lot of them!). I haven't seen any reviews to mention this but I think it needs to be said. Another thing to note is that the parking is absolutely horrendous. The road gets all gummed up around Pooh Corner, which of course isn't the Cafe's fault, however just something to warn you of! (This hasn't affected my review at all).
🌟 Now my review on Pooh Corner itself. Beautiful cottage, the food is absolutely lovely and the waiting staff are amazing, very friendly and REALLY fast! If you're an avid Pooh lover this is the place for you.
🧸🍯 The gift shop was reasonably priced with a wide selection of different souvenirs. The 'museum' was more of a toy collection to be honest, and unfortunately these two areas get extremely busy with all the people waiting to be seated.
The only main let down was the lady wearing red lipstick working front of house. The day before visiting I made sure to call up to see if a booking was necessary - I was told no, unless you want afternoon tea. (We didn't, so we left the booking). We arrived around 11:20am and I asked the lady for a table for 2, she explained there would be a half hour wait minimum. My Mum politely explained that we had phoned up prior and was told a booking wasn't necessary and the lady immediately got defensive, saying abruptly 'WELL NO ONE HAS BOOKED'. I appreciate that, however her tone was not needed. We only ended up waiting around 15/20 minutes in the end which goes fairly quickly after having a browse in the shop and 'museum'.
The queue for the loo was extremely long because there's only one, and they definitely cram in way too many people. It's not something I would rush back to, however I am not mad over Winnie the Pooh, so perhaps an unfair...
