We are regular customers, and have used the highlands on numerous occasions as a family of 10-15. Tonight we visited for a birthday celebration and have unfortunately had the worst experience, and am very disappointed to the extent we shall not be returning and we are writing this review.
We booked a table for 10 people in advance, and on the day of the booking received a call asking us what time our booking was, so we confirmed 6:30. They mentioned they had us down for 4:30. They stated this would not be an issue, and we said see you soon.
Upon arrival we sat down and the table was jam packed, we moved the children around to make more space. We ordered drinks, and they arrived quickly… and then after flagging down the waitress they finally took our food order.
After an hour, we noticed all the tables around us receiving their food even though they arrived later than us, and ordered later than us.
Finally our meals arrived, and the portions were extremely small… and many of us ate of kids plates. Then upon eating the cheesy garlic bread, a massive hair was found in my partners food.
This was brought to the attention of the waitress, who did not say much other than they will replace it. The garlic bread then came out when everyone was finished, so did not eat with the rest of the meal.
We were not offered any drinks throughout the meal even though most glasses were empty and didn’t even ask how our food was.
Due to having no service, we left it a while after eating but again had no one had come over to clear the table or ask if we want drinks or desserts. So we got up to pay at the bar. We were presented with the bill, and it was a fully priced bill with the garlic bread still on.
We queried and expressed our utter disappointment on the overall service, and food received along with the added extra of hair. Again we use this venue often, so was extremely upset that they ruined not only our evening but a birthday celebration.
The manager did not look after us, and was quite happy to loose our custom moving forward. We left after paying, and I returned to get the receipt where another member of staff served me and had to get the manager to re print the receipt… and he came out expressing how we was fighting with the chiefs.
Unprofessional, and clearly issues...
Read more1and a half hour wait for a bit of salmon.!!!!!!!! I went to the Highlands Monday 17th April 2023. There was 3 of us . We treated our dear friend for her birthday to a meal here ,before going on to a evening out to carry on celebrating her birthday . This was my first visit, I was very impressed with the decor. We where seated quickly . There was only one other table taken at the time we arrived . A sweet young girl came to take our order. We all ordered the same . The pan fried salmon. We arrived at 5.30pm ,our order was taken around 5.40pm.
We chatted as ladies do, our friend opened her gifts etc . Time went by then we realised a lot of time had gone by . Then noticed the man that came in after us had finished his meal and onto his pudding . Ours still has not arrived. A very apologetic guy came to out table and said sorry the ticket machine wasn't working !!! The old man had got his food so that was a lame excuse. He promised our food was on its way 7 minutes max . We agreed to wait ,but explained we had to be somewhere . Over 15 minutes later still no food . We had no choice but to go . We where starving !!! Had to watch people that arrived an hour after us get and eat their food . We didn't realise they went and fished in Scotland for the salmon . Our evening was ruined and we where very upset as we ended up with a bag of chips at the local chippy . We waited over 1and a half hours for our food . Will not go again . Shame as first impression was wow . Was going to book my family in for my birthday on the 28th . Sadly not now . Disgraceful service. I'm no cook but even I know it doesn't take 1.5 hours to cook a bit of salmon . We left starving at 7.10 pm...
Read moreI have been visiting your pub since the beginning of the year for dinner with my family and for my first few visits I couldn’t speak highly enough of the pub the food specifically the fish and chips which my family couldn’t get enough of.
However I’m disappointed to say that for my last few visits including one today the food has been far from satisfactory and after this I don’t believe my family will be returning again.
The potatoes were rock solid and the meat was extremely dry and over cooked, we did at the time complain to the waitress who was serving us she did say she would pass on the feedback. I was surprised she came back with a speech about how others had enjoyed the the food today so i demonstrated how hard the potatoes were to cut, considering I had my grandparents with us it was near on impossible. She did agree with me but offered no solution for the matter just an apology however it felt as if it was us that were wrong for making a complaint about the food.
I hope you will look into the matter and hopefully resolve this for future visitors as today has soured my view of the pub and the...
