Visited this Hailsham Indian restaurant with my mother and partner . The service was OK not as tentative to make sure the drinks where topped up as they where to clear the table whilst we were still chewing!. Living in a more affluent town I would expect my local restaurant to be more expensive. Not the case I found the prices a bit greedy. No standard prawns offered only king .. A king prawn jalfrezi priced at a whopping 16.95!! - compared to my local restaurant 12.50 - offering a 8.50 for normal prawns . A very basic korma with chicken 11.25 Again my local only 8.50. 6 papadums and a few basic dips 9.50. A ok experience and food was okay .. a bit overated I think and definitely overpriced for the area . A couple of drinks each and a dish each £92 .55. Bit overpriced for the area and just ok I would say .

Having committed well over 15 years to my extensive research, I am happy to confirm this is a very fine establishment. They do all the classics plus lots of new things that will surely become your new favourites. I am really looking forward to post COVID times when I can enjoy this environment with my friends and family again. Needless to say, I will carry on testing their take out / delivery menu in the meantime. ;-)

Always brilliant, both for takeaways and eating in. Food is superb and the service is excellent. Been coming here for years, and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Update 27th Oct 2018 : another lovely meal here with great service, friendly staff and delicious food. Why go anywhere else!

The Royal Indian Restaurant, Hailsham. DESERVES 6 STARS, This restaurant has been without doubt our favourite and much preferred Indian Restaurant for the past 18 years apart from a brief period of about 18 monhs when it seemed they had a different chef for a while. We visited there again on Friday evening, it is still spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were warm and welcoming and they have now introduced a cocktail menu at very reasonable prices. I asked if they could do a couple of Cosmopolitans for two of our group and it was no trouble at all,,,perfect even though they were not on the cocktail menu! The food was just fantastic and really good size portions, flavours that were just amazing and impeccable service. Even the Chef came out to our table to check that the meals were all to our liking, which it was! The Ckicken Tikka was was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of heat and spices and so, so succulent. The King Prawn dish I had I can only describe as memorable. In the past two years we have eaten in restaurants from Brighton to Hastings and from Eastbourne to Horsham, generally during that period we have found the food wherever we went to eat just seemed to be getting more expensive, of poorer quality with smaller portions and not to an acceptable standard or even tasty. Then we went back to The Royal in Hailsham and aren't we glad we did. It is just so much better than anywhere else and Vivien, the owner just deserves a sixth star for his continued efforts and success in keeping it all to the very high standard he does. A big thank you to all the...

I have been dining many times at The Royal Indian Restaurant in Hailsham since 2021 & I want to congratulate the owner, Viv Samuel & his brilliant staff team for their superb curry house.

I can truly say that I've never been dissapointed by The Royal, it's an exceptional restaurant that I've recommended to many friends. I've hosted a Christmas Party for over 20 + guests there & took over the restaurant for my birthday last year. Both occasions were excellent, my guests had a really great time & I have lovely memories of both events.

Viv is always on hand to give you a great welcome & has that ability to make every guest feel valued & special. The restaurant is most attractively laid out with a warm ambience & spotlessly clean, creating a really lovely dining experience.

The menu has been thoughtfully created incorporating some unusual recipes from his family in Southern India. Viv & his staff team are knowlegeable about their cuisine & dishes can be altered to suit their guests individual tastes.

The Royal also offers an excellent range of wines & some lovely cocktails & liqueur coffees. If you have spare room after your main courses, Viv also has some delicious puddings.

I would be very surprised if you did not enjoy your dining experience at The Royal. Many of Viv's guests come to his restaurant on a regular basis & become old friends.

Highly satisfied customers, Val & Ian...

I'm in the area and just walked in with no reservation, not a problem, politely greeted and immediately taken to my table. The decor is fresh and modern, occasionally divided by small screens that give an air of privacy. I had my drink delivered to my table within seconds at which point I ordered my meal. The meal came within 15 minutes and was cooked to perfection. My order was lamb Madras with onion rice, garlic nann and a side of tarka dahl, the lamb was melt in the mouth with a rice Madras sauce that had the perfect balance between flavour and heat. The rice was deliciously flavoured with the right amount of onion added to give flavour and sweetness. The garlic Mann was soft and buttery inside with a delicate couch to the outer. The dahl......... well the dahl was just perfection. Everything was served in hot bowls and plates which makes a nice change, at the end of the meal I was presented with a hot towel and complimentary mints which Is sadly missed out on these days. The staff were very friendly, polite and attentive. All in all a wonderful experience and a delicious meal. If I could give ten stars I would. Highly...
