Bennett's Restaurant — Restaurant in West Lancashire

Sorry to say this will be the last time we set foot in here. Gut instinct said walk away as soon as we got there but £25 in a Taxi each way we thought let's ride it through.

So we walked in to not be greeted and asked what's your name, but to a gaggle of noise and limited seating. My wife and I found a seat and perched on the End. Then I took on the roll as waiter as I had to go to the bar and get a drinks menu. We ordered 2 gins one Rhubarb one seville Orange when they arrived the glasses where identical, not Dressed no lemon lime orange not even any ice...... I asked how can you tell them apart oh she says I put a straw in the rhubarb one. Genius I thought. I suppose a drop of ice would of complicated matters I thought. I then returned to the bar to fetch my own menu as this was not offered and was bluntly told that it wasnt my menu. I was then thrusted 2 other menus and i went to sit down feeling scolded.

So into restaurant and our starters arrived fresh and tasty as too our mains. Then the fun started with desserts. And although my one was nice my wives was something that beggered belief. The bloody spoon got stuck in it . So we ordered coffee and went to the comfy seats to chat and there's a bloke sat in the middle of the room in gym shorts a sweaty top and watching the the Rugby. We asked for the Bill on 3 occasions and it wasn't forthcoming by this time our taxi arrived so we just left.

Then today we have duty manager ring me and say that this is no reason to leave a restaurant with out paying, as if this was our intention. I'm not here to rip people off. I do however expect a decent service when I'm paying.

Obviously I told you I was going to be writing this and in answer to your question No I won't hold on. I think if your calling yourself a restaurant the sports bar image has to go.

Anyway like I said email me the bill and I will check it and pay but I will never set foot in here again . Which is a shame as the last time we came we where made to feel special nothing was too much trouble. Last night however we where made to feel unwelcome and more an inconvenience.
