Purely Pizza — Restaurant in West Lancashire

All that I hoped for! When I saw the exterior design I hoped they had got the understated look right. It suggested authentic Italian pizza, not commercial or American, and thankfully they’ve carried it off. The interior decor, the limited but creative menu, and the solely Italian wine menu all place the accent firmly on on authentic home grown Italian-styled flavour and quality.. Some of the produce is local of course but all of the heart of the production is about quality, just as mama would insist. Do try the sharing platter to start with the padron peppers (maybe more Spanish than Italian but fantastic all the same) and anyone of the pizzas will leave you wondering how you ever thought Dominos had anything worth ordering! Purely pizza is a nice venue to have in Burscough. A traditional Italian menu with pizzas and pastas, the actual food was quite nice. We had pizzas, gnocchi, ravioli and carbonara. Everything was tasty, although the carbonara was possibly on the bland side. The pizza dough was delightful and the garlic bread and truffle fries very pleasant. We also had pesto and mozzarella arancini which were delicious.

I would mention that it would have been nice to be offered additional parmesan grated on my carbonara, for example and that the bacon had actually been cooked with the pasta, and not laid on top.

The coffee was flavourful and we avoided the desserts because of their price. More expensive than in London!

Made a telephone order for delivery. They couldn't deliver because they were very busy so i said we'd pick up. They wetent busy. Only two tables in use. My pizza was being cooked. When I was paying, the delivery man was packing one pizza up and as I got into my own car he was setting off on a delivery. With ONE pizza. When home my pizza which was meant to have pork on it had BACON. no it's not the same thing. I picked a piece up and it was mainly fat. As were all the other pieces. What was going on Purely.
