We waited a while to be sat because only the manager can sit patrons, this was followed by part of a drinks order being forgotten about. My wife ordered a fig special starter which was very nice. I ordered the burrata which tasted sour and a little funky. It was either going off or had been frozen. Sadly when our plates were taken the waitress didn't notice I hadn't eaten much off it, not very well trained staff or domineering management. The manager later asked if the food was ok, I told him the burrata tasted sour and a little funky. The man immediately got offended and told me no one else had complained about it.
We carried on with the meals, wife got the lasagna which was ok for lasagna and I got the prawn and scallop risotto. Scallop and prawns were ok but the risotto cream sauce had no depth of flavour.
The dining room and table settings were well done. We then had to wait for our bill because only a manage can print bills and take payments.
I did tell the manager when paying I felt he was rude. He told me he the chef said the burrata was fine. Sadly I needed to remind him he was he dismissive me well before speaking to the chef.
Sadly a restaurant that puts style well over substance. Staff clearly arnt trusted or trained. Food is alright but I have had better street food at a fraction of the price. They are clearly cutting some corners and costs with ingredients. I probably...
Read moreNot really sure about this restaurant. It was really lovely inside, very nicely laid out and lovely decor. It was very busy due to the Christmas period and the service was a bit hit and miss. For example we asked for Fever tree tonic and were told there wasn’t any and then the next table was served with a fever tree tonic! I asked for a kopperburg or similar fruity cider and received a Magners original cider which was open so I had to drink it but it wasn’t what I ordered and I didn’t particularly enjoy it. My friend asked for a flavoured gin and was told there weren’t any and yet she saw numerous bottles when we were on our way out and walked past the bar. It also seems that we had a different waiter or waitress for every course so there was no continuity and it was all very hurried. We had no cutlery for dessert and were given forks to eat our ice cream with! I hate to give a poor review as My starter and main were actually very nice and were really well presented but the vegetables were way too undercooked for me and the sprouts were actually like bullets I could hardly get my fork into them! I completely understand that it would be busy due to it being Christmas time but the service just wasn’t up to scratch and I Probably wouldn’t go again. Maybe it was just Christmas staff who really didn’t know what they were doing So it would be interesting to see what it was like on...
Read moreWe have been here several times over the last few months but feel in this last visit they had fone downhill a little compared to previous meals there.
I ordered lamb which when it arrived was not good and eas replaced with a steak (it would take too long to recook the lamb) and the steak was not as ordered either.
Dessert was ordered and there were a number of falts. I ordered "Creme Brulee with a hint of Cointreau. No hint of cointreau and the creme brulee had split, resembling scrambled egg more than the advertised brulee. When asked if we had enjoyed it, the waitress just said "sorry about that" and no more was heard.
There were three other desserts ordered with 2 being the same thing, lemon cheesecake. One came with a piece of dragon fruit but not the other. Also they were plated differently. Ok, thatbdoesnt affect the flavour or taste but, I would expect consistency in a restaurant of this calibre and priced.
I told the manager (owner?) On the way out, and he said it was the same chef and usual (I asked as this want as good as normal). They did remove my main course from the bill but that wasn't the reason I complained. If you dont tell them they can't fix the problem but they were so full I suspect they don't care as long as people keep coming back.
Which in our case probably won't happen due to the dire lack of interest in...
