We booked this hotel for three nights sat-mon thinking it would be a nice stay whilst attending the races at Cadwell Park Upon arrival we discovered the on site carpark was closed due to a beer festival taking place on the Sat and Sun nights which we knew nothing about! We rang to ask where we were supposed to park to be told to just come in and the manager will try and sort it!! So upon telling them we’d driven 7 hours where do they suggest we park ? We were told to park down the street and come in. My partner went in and waited 20 minutes before someone spoke to him. We had to park in a public carpark down the road. We then waited half an hour at the bar before the rude girl spoke to us and showed us our room. The shower was dirty and the bedside lamp couldn’t be plugged in due to no socket! The music was right outside our window luckily I had ear plugs and my partner sleeps well!! The room wasn’t cleared of rubbish the whole three days and the milk not replaced , we had to ask for milk upon which we were given a full mug of fresh milk …. So no coffee for us on the last morning! The window cleaner arrived at 7.30am , abit of a rude awakening call ! There was a loud droning noise on and off all evening and early hours that interrupted our sleep as it sounded like it was in the room! Can only assume it was something to do with the pub as it stopped after hours. We couldn’t find the key box outside , thank goodness for the one lady that seemed to know what was going on!! I recommend you DO NOT stay here we most certainly will not return!

Don’t come to this place. I came here to have dinner at 8pm. The waitress was so rude that I’m speechless. There was no one inside the restaurant, so plenty of tables empty, I was about to sit in one place and she was really angry saying really loud “Don’t sit there, sit here or here”, asked me if I wanna eat and threw me the menu and right away asked “Are you ready to order?”. I went “Not yet, you just gave me the menu” and She left me for ages until coming back. She didn’t want to work anymore and she clearly didn’t want to get my order. It’s the second time I’m here and the service is really bad. I feel so bad for being hungry and choosing this place to eat. If you want a drink, this could be the place, but if you want to have a nice dinner, don’t choose this place. Advocate Arms is an excellent pub a few steps ahead and you gonna love the service and mainly the food. I don’t recommend this place for anyone.

We stayed in room 5 for 2 nights, staff excellent and showed us to our room on the first floor. Good clean room with decent facilities including plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, a good sized wall hung television and a hairdryer too. Exiting outside of pub hours means leaving via a metal staircase 1 floor up so certainly not disabled/wheelchair friendly. On our last night, Saturday night a live band was playing directly below room 5 which was very loud and continued until 22.45....this should be explained a little better when arriving together with where to leave the room key on leaving(a box by the car park gates). Overall a good stay but could have been better.

I went to this pub today and sat outside near the play area. It looks like it had a makeover 10 years or more. I'm sure it was good intentions then! But are the pub owners waiting for the contractors to come back and do a freebie makeover? The patio slabs are very well laid so whoever did that then your very good at your job! A jetwash would make them like new again! But since then there weeds growing. The underground sheet under the wood bark chippings has risen to the top and is a trip hazard! So if someone wants to make a claim for thousands here is your chance! The round wooden tables look 10 or more years old and rotten and falling apart! An ashtray on the floor to catch rain water or someone too lazy to pick it up? The red shipping container converted to a bar is still a bar? Or someone's bright red long gone idea! How many tables do you want in the carpark? Is it a tabletop sale? Ic couldn't wash my hands in the gents toilets as no soap! Oh that's what the hand gel in the pub is for! Did you get a tonne up hand gel ? I went to this pub over a year ago before well before the world got ill from covid and I certainly remember the outside being the same rundown place. What have the owners been doing during lockdown? Sleeping?defo not sorting the outside out! I can't comment on anything else about this pub but if the outside is rundown and no soap in toilets then what's behind the bar like and what's the kitchen like? Especially as we have had lockdown several times! Oh and the carpets need shampooing. We are out of lockdown now so shampooers...

During my brief visit in early afternoon, I found the landlord to be short and abusive. I'm mask exempt, however he stated "no mask, then leave my pub, I don't care about the law, my pub, my rules"! This was despite me saying that I'm exempt from wearing a mask and stating that to refuse could contravene the equalities act and disability discrimination act. The landlord had a face visor over his head, no face cover otherwise, and only pulled this down as he approached me. According to the government website this is an inadequate facial covering... under his own rules he shouldn't have been allowed in.

Furthermore, people were very clearly very drunk and the landlord didn't refuse them service (against licenced premises regulations). The premises also was not properly ventilated, there was no track and trace information and no sanitiser provided on entry - all of which hospitality venues are obliged to provide since reopening.

If he's willing to break all these rules, who knows what the rest of the business...
