Called in here today, 2nd November. We do come here regularly but, up until recently, they were NOT dog friendly BUT now, they are, on the wooden floor area near the bar. Great, we were walking our dogs today around the Marina as Hartsholme Park too wet. We decided, as we can now take our two dogs, Molly and Toby, into the Woodcock for a meal, we would eat here today instead of taking them home and perhaps going to The Centurian! Most Marston pubs accept dogs and glad common sense now prevails at The Woodcock. Why cut your clientele down. Our dogs don’t dictate where we go but a lot of our friends will only go where their dogs can. In the event, I had a lovely rump steak, cooked to perfection and Barry had his favourite, fish and chips. With a coupon for 30% off and a coupon for 2 drinks for £5, what’s not to like🤗. Staff always very nice, particularly Ally and the waitress who served us today. UPDATE: 14th May. Sitting in here now. Let member of staff know we are here and where we are sitting. Nobody came near, waitress who we told, avoiding eye contact. After 10 minutes and pub not at all busy, Barry had to go to bar where two members of staff, were standing to ask to be served! When one arrived said we could have ordered on line or at bar😡. I could not order on line as wanted to change something on order. Dreadful service, Matt or Kelly no where to be seen which might account for very poor service and our favourite waitress, Ally, no longer there. Hope Matt sees this. Despite her walking past us a couple of times, waitress did not ask “if everything ok?” This should be a standard question. In the event, Barry’s fish and chips, as usual was great, and my sirloin steak - bit chewy but tasty. A couple came in and sat at table next to us. Lady was in a wheel chair and gentleman elderly. He had to keep getting up, firstly to find a menu and then for different condiments as the ones on table were empty. He remarked, “shame they don’t check when cleaning tables”. We paid our bill and no goodbyes or thank you when leaving. All my above comments are basic good service. If this was my first visit, would I return, probably not and Barry even said he would think twice to return. Along with many other chain pubs/restaurants, they are offering deals to get customers in. No good offering a deal if service is not good and your custom is not appreciated, especially when they are not busy. Had to reduce our 5⭐️s to 3.

Really good place for food, the service was a little weird. It seemed they were half welcoming and then some staff were not really interested with their guests. The beds were amazing the food was pretty good too

Ok, it's a chain pub. I did get a OOOH just one person, table on their own oooh. Don't know where to put you. Travelling with work so not very welcoming. It's about par for the course as they go. I desperately looked for a healthy option on food menu. Constantly offered extra chips as an option but only one dish has healthy option sides. Come on, half a tomato is not a deathly side option. It's all fries, fries, fries. I wanted 45 minutes for my food and had to chase it. I ordered at 2000 hrs so not busy. When I tried to use my 20% residence at hotel discount I was told that I could not use it. Lost the will to fight it. Food when it came was we presented. Chap from kitchen was apologetic and very nice. Thank you. Beer was not bad. Keg Pedigree. Drinkable but not remarkable. It's a pub chain....don't expect much. Feedback using point. HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS.

DO NOT COME HERE. I came for a family birthday party, and I have never received worse service in my life. The behaviour of the staff that work here goes beyond unwelcoming, it is deplorable and manipulative.

Orders were got wrong despite them being on the bill, and when this was raised to the staff because the food never arrived, no attempt to rectify this was made. When another complaint was made about this, the staff said that we were lying and there was no issue and it was our fault. Upon vehemently denying this they finally removed it from the bill. There were multiple opportunities to just bring out the food that wasn’t delivered. When paying the bill, considering we were a large party, my grandpa commented that the price was rather low for what it was. The staff then said yes but you have to pay it. Over 2 hours later, at the birthday party of his wife who just turned 80, they phoned him up and demanded he return because they gave him the wrong bill, and they couldn’t close the till until the correct tab was paid. Upon returning there, they blamed the situation on him for giving the wrong table number when paying. This is a lie. They also blamed the situation on him for not reading the receipt properly. Reading through a receipt should not be mandatory for customers when paying for a service. He was then refunded for the incorrect bill, and before paying the correct bill he asked for a discount on the bill for their mistake. They immediately said no to the idea as if it was silly for even asking. The next day when someone phoned up to complain and ask for a partial refund, they lied and said he did not ask for a discount when paying, they lied once again saying he gave the wrong table number, and then the person complaining was shouted at and argued at over the phone as if it was our fault.

My 84 year old grandpa was left shocked and confused, as if he had made some kind of mistake or even committed some kind of crime, when it was the incompetence of staff that had caused this entire affair. The audacity to demand he returns, despite travelling being difficult for him and living far away from the restaurant, was shocking and repulsive.

I will say it again. DO NOT COME TO...

Sadly it was a disappointment when we visited tonight. We had booked a table and were happy with where we where seated but after 15 minutes it was unclear as if we needed to order at the bar because some tables were recieving table service but no one had checked back with us so ordered and paid for food and drinks at the bar, after waiting in a queue for several minutes. When we asked how long our food was going to be because we had waited 45 mins from ordering, we were told it was an hour wait from ordering which had not been told to us initially. When mine and my husbands steaks arrived, mine was well over cooked but it was very clear that over half the steak was gristle and fat so couldn't be eaten. My husband's was cooked fine, but again he had to leave almost half due to fat and gristle. It would have been clear prior to cooking that these steaks were not in fact up to standard and when you are paying ÂŁ15.99 for a steak is not acceptable. Also, to be picky but the peas varied in colour, some had clearly been sat for a long period of time and the rest of the accompaniments were ok but not great to be honest. At no point did any staff come over to ask if the meal was ok. After 25 mins of finishing the meal, and a pudding being ordered for our child, when it was brought to the table, the member of staff started to clear the plates. We shared our thoughts regarding the quality of the steak which he said he would pass on but then disappeared and left the rest of the plates. We've both worked in hospitality for a long time so we're mindful not to be rude. As we were about to leave we were asked if everything was OK to which we shared that our visit had been disappointing. We were offered a drink but it was clear we were about to leave and to be fair, her apology was so disingenuous, it was evident she couldn't care less...she continued to wipe down the table next to us whilst saying "I'll tell our suppliers about the steaks". Tonight's Bill was just over ÂŁ100 for 3 x adults and a child, wish we had got a take away instead! Won't be rushing back or...
