We went in Friday night (best to book). Itâs a barn type set up and therefore, make sure you have you wool sweaters on! Great set up with some of the wine on tap, micro brewery next door (artisan beers and ciders, zinging and refreshing). You can see the pizza being prepared and the âfire ovenâ. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable in the huge selection of award winning (global) winesâŚđˇ Fantastic selection of around 12 well known pizzas, extra toppings a plenty. Someone has obviously worked hard on the business model; because I had the mighty âJack the Ripperâ pizza with extra cheese, spinach and mushroomsâŚdelicious! Best pizza I have eaten in years..maybe ever. All this and a pint of original IPA for ÂŁ18. The reason this is also welcome and appreciated is, other places within walking distance would charge you ÂŁ20 just for the pizza!! So compared to whatâs available locally this wins hands down., Great alternative, fantastic food and not taking anyone for a ride with their prices!! (Cost of living also hits people in Oxfordshire too). Thank you Fire and Wine, We will return very soonâŚcanât wait to try more wine/beer and pizza...
Read moreWe arrived at 19:15 without a booking and were told it was very busy but we could get drinks and would be allocated an oven slot at 20:15. That seemed fine, so we ordered two pizzas, a dip, a beer, and a bottle of wine â the total was ÂŁ75.
By 21:00 there was still no food. Staff only told us they were âvery busyâ when we asked â no one had updated us at any point. The pizzas eventually arrived at 21:20, over two hours after we arrived and an hour after our allocated oven time.
While waiting, we checked the receipt and saw a ÂŁ10 corkage fee on the wine, which we hadnât been told about and which isnât listed on the menu or shelf. The wine was also charged at ÂŁ31, despite a ÂŁ23 price tag. When we asked about this, staff simply said it was âan expensive bottle of wineâ and confirmed yes the corkage wasnât displayed anywhere.
The food was lovely, but the long wait, lack of communication, and unexpected charges...
Read moreBeen a few times but a couple of weeks ago we visited this place on a Friday night. Itâs no frills but thatâs what makes it great. We were fortunate to sit outside as warm, there was a good atmosphere as busy both inside and out. Claire is lovely, so welcoming and friendly but so too is Aime. We have been a few times now, both Saturday afternoon for a glass or two of wine and Friday and Saturdays pm,s for Pizza. The Pizza s are all freshly cooked and can come with a variety of toppings to add if required. I would highly recommend the Crispy Pepperoni as a side nibbles, yummie. Personally Iâm not particularly a pizza fan but I always really enjoy the ones here. I would Highly recommend. Great fun...
