Allison's Eatery — Restaurant in West Suffolk

I've never felt so un welcome in a cafe before. We traveled quite a distance on holiday on my birthday to support a local vegan cafe. We arrived 3 hours before closing and were given excuse after excuse as to why she couldn't serve us. She was eating her lunch, she has sent all her staff home, she had turned off the hot food counter, she was closing in a couple of hours, shes turned off the friers. She said she could still do most things but everything we asked for she had run out off there was another reason she couldn't make it (including the special that was still advertised on the board outside).

My wife and I visited here on our way through from London to Norfolk. What appealed was that the menu is fully vegan and we were not in the slightest disappointed. There was an abundance of options but we opted for the cheeseburger and chips. Everything was cooked fresh to order and the chips in particular were hand-cut and reminiscent of childhood. They also make pancakes and afternoon tea which we may get on the way back through. The vibe was very relaxed and sort of homely which was pleasant and they also sold lots of other vegan products. I asked on a local Facebook group for vegan recommendations and the overwhelming response was Alison’s! I’m so glad I came because the food was amazing and so were Alison and Cleo, who I chatted to for a little while! I was so impressed I have already planned to host events here in the next year, as a fully vegan catered space! I also purchased some pantry staples, and some unusual finds like vegan fish sauce for my Thai cooking! We took home some Bakewell slices, lemon drizzle and Cornish pasty’s and all were 10/10.
