29th January update.
Well done Marie and crew, you were exceptionally busy on Sunday, 2 staff working the floor and the same number doing the bar. The two young people serving table's clearing away were on the go all the while and even had time to ask diners if everything was to their satisfaction. They were not running around like headless chickens. The service has improved a lot over the past few weeks and it seems as if you are getting the staff to work as a team. Waiting time was acceptable, food was good and staff were not harassed.
WELL DONE Marie and staff you now deserve the 5 stars.
This is an update on the on the previous weeks meal. Sunday the 22nd we once again had our lunch at the greengage and it was by far a lot better than the 15th. The pub was busier, but the service was a lot speedier. No complaints this week. So well done Greengage, keep up the good work and we shall see you again on the 29th. P.S. Sorry there is only one complaint this week, we did not like sitting on those high seats as I am only 5ft 4in tall I need a step ladder to get on the seat. We usually sitnat table 17. Thanks
We go every week for our Sunday lunch. Other Sundays when we have gone the service was not great. Some weeks no roast dinners, the reason staff shortages, so we have gone down to the Tollgate where they don't seem to have this problem. But on the 15th January as usual we booked like we always do and got there at 1.05pm as we had booked for 1.15pm, so had ordered before 1.15pm just after a young man who had his two young children with him looking forward to their burgers. So we sat there drank our drinks and I went up to the bar to ask for some more and one of the bar staff asked if every thing was OK, my reply was it would be if we were still not waiting for our lunch. We had been waiting over an hour. The young man with the children then came up to the bar and said he had been waiting over the hour which we had. The bar manager who served us was called and asked why we had not been told about the hour wait and it turns out our orders had not been sent through to the kitchen. The young man cancelled his order and asked for his money back and said that he should have his money for his drinks back for the inconvenience. Also when I went back to my seat two ladies who had been sitting at a table next to us said they had been waiting a lot longer and had ordered by using the app, they went up to the bar and cancelled the meal and got their money back. When our dinner eventually arrived the roast potaoes seemed as though they had been reheated 2 or 3 times, not very nice, beef a bit tough, but will say apple crumble and custard was nice. Between 2 bars , well done to that lady , all with a lovely smile and a sense of humour šÆš, seating are inside looks quite Spacious,outside seating area and kid friendly,prices all Excellent like you would see from a hungry horse Establishment, very nice Atmosphere in side both areas Bar, and dining area . I think there having big problems in the kitchen ,and bringing food out , we have been waiting about 40mins and there are people before us still waiting 1 couple a hours wait !! Theres people coming in but no food coming out !!update as we go ..I can see a patern here with customers, am in here right now ! Another table food sent back because of cold food ! There must be a problem with the chef or who ever cooks food in this place , i think its a BIG staff problem , there are big waits for food , ive never had a problem in a hungry horse this has to be a first , The Manger : you need more staff, waiters/ Waiteress!, and a shake up in the kitchen ,Big time š over 1 hour wait upto now for food , just come ! I have to say the size of the food i wouldnt say its that good tbh pritty poor . I have to say the food prepper needs lessons to make a burgers or food in general .!sorry to say , i will say it as it is , i wont sugar coat it ...š People are talking here they have been waiting for 2 hours for , the lady said people in the kitchen are training ! Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered a Beef Madras. Everyoneās meal came apart from mine. Once they were half finished, a member of staff walked over and asked if I wanted anything else? Naturally I was surprised and asked what she meant? Thatās when she informed me they didnāt have any Beef Madras.. How long would I have sat there for I wonder.. I said, no one told me it wasnāt available but let me have a look. I then decided on a Lamb Rogan. After about 5 mins, it arrived, with the meat still ice cold. When I gave it back there was no apology, I was offered a refund as I said I didnāt have time to eat now as everyone was pretty much finished, which was processed but they still charged me for the bloody drink!
Iād also like to note neither of my kids ate their sausages as their description was ādisgustingā I can hand on heart say itās the first time Iāve ever known either of them to refuse sausages (their favourite food)
Not only was the food appalling the it had service to match.
I wonāt be returning and I would advise anyone who has any value for their health - AVOID.
