Lucy's Pizzeria — Restaurant in West Suffolk

Absolutely shocking! Booked a table 2 months ago for 5 people as I'd heard such good things about the pizzas. We arrived and the table wasn't ready so they quickly rushed around to sort it. We took our seats and started deciding what pizzas we wanted only to then be told that they only had enough pizza dough to make ONE pizza!!! ONE!!! But we could have pasta or gluten free dough! We joked about how can a pizza restaurant run out of pizza dough... It's not like they didn't know we were coming!! They then told us that they sold out because they had so many takeaway orders.... so instead of keeping back a certain amount of dough to be able to service our pre-booked party of 5 who would have spent money on not just pizzas, but sides, drinks and desserts, they allowed all the takeaway orders to be fulfilled! On top of this, we weren't told by a manager, a poor young lad had to tell us and deal with our absolute shock and disbelief! No way to run a restaurant... If you want to be a takeaway don't...

Soooo!! For the last 2 weeks I have seen reviews raving about Lucy’s pizza. After craving pizza for the last few days, I decided to give them a try. I picked up my pizza and I must tell you, it was probably the worse and most expensive pizza I have had from a restaurant. I picked up the pizza right when they told me it would be ready! It was cold with absolutely no flavor! The Pizza Express pizzas from Waitrose are so much better and cost a third of the price. I am all about supporting local businesses especially during this current climate. I would have rated them 1 star, but because they are open to provide food to people while most businesses are closed i decided to give them one extra star. I have been to Lucy’s twice now. I can say their cancellation policy is awful if you’re trying to have a larger gathering. They have no mention of charging for cancellation (which we had to do due to covid) yet on the phone they said they would take a fee. I find the food to be bland. I haven’t been since they added pasta to the menu. The restaurant itself is very cute inside and well maintained. Their pizza oven itself is a beautiful. My favourite bit about Lucy’s is their garden in the back, the only downside is the terrible art on the back wall that really kills the vibe. It’s a lovely garden I don’t want to feel like I’m in a New Jersey...
