Hare & Hounds — Restaurant in Wigan

Went for a family meal and the food was average at best . My small mix grill came out and was over cooked . I asked for ‘medium rare and was well done . The lad took it away and came bck the same but everything else was cold . The girl cooking is a joke . I took it bck and sd it’s over cooked again plus everything is cold . I heard here say what am I supposed to do . Here is an example cook everything fresh and actually cook things the way customers asked .After promising it will be fresh it was the same the things for the 3 time steak over cooked chicken and gammon stone cold . Chips freezing . I requested a refund and asked to speak to the manager because the so called cook cause she is definitely no chef had served me the same thing 3 times . There was an half eaten sausage kept coming at every time . The barman rang his manager and explained the situation and she told him it’s her day off and desk with the situation himself . The lovely manager who could not be bothered speaking to a paying customer is Vicky Hollywood . What an absolute disgrace she is . She Cnt be bothered to speak to a customer. What’s worse she chucked her barman under the bus when it’s got nothing to do with him . If you as company have imbeciles like this running your pub and cooking your food you will find the doors closed very soon . Reputation is everything and when the manager Cnt be bothered to speak to customers with complaints and the girl who Cnt cook a carrot . What chance have you got . Used to come every Wednesday with the kids after school. They loved the indoor play area and the fact they ate for £1 with every paying adult was a bonus. First time we visited this week since lock down and revamp.

Firstly, the menus! Sticky, stained and unclean!! Disappointing that the play area has gone as this was the only reason I visited so often, places like that are few and far between. Anyway. We booked for 12 of us on a Wednesday so we had the 50percent off. We sat at 6.30 ordered starters at 6.45 and was told a 45 min wait. (Place wasnt busy, fair enough it's less staff) just before 8pm starter came out. The small children where starving so they shared with us., hunters nachos where great! Then another 45 min later one main at a time came out, by the time the first few people finished the last meal was just arriving! All this whilst our starters still hadn't been cleared from the table. It also irritated me how the kids meals where among the last to come out so again, delving into the adult meals as so hungry I appreciate the limited staff etc but surely this comes down to lack off efficiency and organisation!

Food: my partnr had the chicken platter, skewer and fillet where cold so didnt eat The american platter, over cooked corn on cob, it was mush! Wings dry bland and to crispy, ribs again tough and hardly any bbq sauce, chips where great.

Kids pasta looked like it was from a tin

Cant comment on any other food.

We visited the hare and hounds on 7th March as a party of 6 When we arrived there were no staff behind the bar and after looking around for 10mins someone appeared from the kitchen area , we were told if we had come for food there was none available until 3pm, that was not a problem and we finally got a drink We noticed that the bar area was left unattended quite frequently When we went to order food there was no staff behind the bar and another customer said he had been waiting a while to order a drink, a woman came behind the bar and asked if we were waiting to be served , there was a queue of at least 5 people, she shouted for someone to come and serve After ordering food and more drinks we enjoyed our meals The plates were left on our table long after we finished eating, we took our own empty glasses to the bar frequently and it was full of other customers leaving theirs on the bar We were going to order desserts but once again no one behind the bar , bar full of empty glasses and our table still full of dirty plates so we decided it was time to leave Lovely pub the member of staff was on his own the whole time , he was pleasant and nice to talk to when we spoke with him We won't go back as this is the second time we have been and had to look for staff to order food or drinks and not seen anyone collect empty glasses or clear tables long after food...
