came here on christmas day for the set christmas dinner meal and honestly was amazing. the food was all very nice and generous portion sizes. the atmosphere was really nice its quite cosy inside and the staff were all wonderful happy and helpful. the price was slightlu expensive and there was a sevice charge of £30 even though the website says only parties of 6 or more but we were told that xmas it applies to everyone. with that being said I find it perfectly reasonable to charge a service charge on christmas day. I would like to personally thank all the staff for being welcoming mind and helpful and working on this this day to make others day special. would definitely come here again.
UPDATE……. 3 weeks later we are back at the in this time on a regular night not christmas day. very rare I write a second review or amend my original but honestly the inn at maybury deserves it. first of all as last time staff in this place really are top drawer. inviting, friendly, great service cannot fault them. 2 ladies were serving us both were fantastic. the food… wow. I think i know wht this has 4.5 stars on google reviews. The food really is some of the best ive had. the chilli prawns for starter was amazing! pan fried seabass was just incredible everything on that plate was fresh and full of flavour my wife had the soup and linguine also said was very nice the dessserts again a really fresh and tast apple crumble with plenty of apple inside. the portions were very good not the biggest but very nice portion sizes. The ambience is just relly nice here. its a very nice place and really relaxed made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. so only two minor criticisms My son had a burger which was well done. He prefers medium he wasnt asked how he would like it or maybe they are cooked well done as standard and he should of said either way it was a nice burger. the only other thing I would say is the price is on the high side mains are £18-£20 which is slightly more than many other places. I just think a few pounds knocked off the mains would definitely have me coming back more becuase one thing you cannot deny is the quality of the food. so I maintain my 5 stars becuse of the exceptional service and food I really hope the inn at maybury continues on this path of great service...
Read moreWe had a really bad experience this time, The Maybury Inn is literally on our road and we frequent restaurants often but rather go to others as we don't always get the best service at The Maybury, mostly because the service is slow and we have to keep getting up and asking for drinks or assistance. This time it was especially bad. From the food, to the drinks to the service. I returned my son's pizza as it was literally a layer of dough with tomato paste and barely any cheese. We ordered drinks upon arrival and they took about 20 minutes to reach our table. In fact the waiter came to ask us for our food order before our drinks had even arrived. Most of the drinks we wanted in terms of Ciders you had no stock of. Then the food finally came and it was okay, not the best. Our plates were cleared just before our desserts were placed on the table. And our empty drinks glasses remained on the table for the entire sitting, we had very little space on the table. At the end of the evening we ordered a hot chocolate and three whiskey Don Pedro's and they took forever to get to us, so long we almost cancelled them. Then when they did arrive they were cold. We sent the one back to get warmed and it came back stirred and microwaved which is just completely unacceptable. If we needed things like salt, sugar and the kiddies menu, we had to get up and go get it ourselves. I have photo's of our uncleared table should you wish to see them. We will not be back for a while sadly! And hope if and when we do go back that we have a very...
Read moreThe Inn at Maybury is very well set out and the staff are very attentive as well as polite. Just enough to make sure you are well looked after but not too much in your face. The food was very good. The onion rings were great, the batter was light and fluffy. The duck liver and port parfait starter was tasty along with the fruit and sloe gin chutney. The steak which was cooked to perfection for medium with Bernaise sauce and Chucky chips. Although I'm not too keen on the Chucky chips they were cooked well throughout but missing that crunch. The creme brulee was cooked fantastic with a lovely crunch and the strawberry to add a different dimension. However I was not convinced with the biscuits but again that would have probably gone with some coffee. Presentation was fantastic for the food and I thought everything the cooks prepared was great. The one thing that let the rating down was the toilets with the leaks and I wasnt the only one to criticise them...
