This really is a wonderful country pub! We had a delicious lunch at the Olive Tree today. There’s plenty of parking on site and a great marquee set up in the beer garden if the weather isn’t on your side. Lots of picnic tables nicely spaced out a and a few cushions to make you as comfortable as possible. Covid-19 measures were also clearly in place with track and trace available or the option to leave your details manually and lots of hand sanitiser dotted around. Drinks and food were fabulous, as was the service from our lovely waitress Kate who was so very friendly and helpful (as were all of the staff). We both went for the moules frites (on the specials menu) and they were we’re plump, juicy, delicious and came with a huge portion of thick cut, well seasoned chips and some amazingly good hand cut bread to mop up the fantastic garlic and white wine sauce. They even thoughtfully included a finger bowl with lemon to clean your hands afterwards which was a great touch. Our drinks were refreshing and spot on for a hot day so I really can’t recommend this pub highly enough. Support local and get yourself down there with friends or family - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to all of the team for a wonderful afternoon x

Not impressed with being asked to pay a service charge for a male member of bar staff who didn’t know what bitter or cider was available who also kept us waiting to pay for so long we had to stand by the till to get someone’s attention. No list of drinks other than wines on the outside table menus, hence you are reliant on your waiting staff who in our case knew nothing. We also got taken to an outside table with really uncomfortable seats - literally cheap outside benches - despite half a dozen better empty ones being available all night. Why not offer the customer a choice in the first place never mind the fact that you’re then charging for the ‘service’ of being taken to poor seats? Then after all that it’s nearly £5 a pint - a premium price for a poor experience.

I'll start with the positive, the food was very nice. We had burgers, steak and a sandwich all of which were very well received. No faults. Sadly the rest slightly let it down, the service was very friendly, but also very slow, we were secluded away in the restaurant room and I found it easier to order at the bar rather than wait for someone to remember us. Then the room itself. It's dark, gloomy even on a wet day, and not very inviting. I was very jealous of the happy smiling people found by the bar and fire area, much more inviting. Sadly the restaurant bit, when it's just you is a bit solemn. If I couldn't get a table by the bar next time I would genuinely move onwards. But anyway back to the positive, the food was great.

We were placed in a secluded area where the staff forgot about us. We ordered a sharing seafood platter and we had to send the waitress back to get plates for us to eat the food off and then tartar sauce which should’ve been on the platter and then a knife as there was only two forks and one knife in the tankard . We waited for ages for someone to come and take the plates away and give us the desert menu and in the end, I went up to the bar and asked for a dessert menu. After another wait we were given dessert menus and the plates were cleared away. We had another long wait for someone to come and take our order and to clean the dirty table ( which never happened). Finally I went up to the bar and paid the bill because I decided I didn’t have another hour to waste waiting for the staff to appear. They said that there was only two of them and they were serving inside and outside. There was only seven cars in the car park and one table of guests outside. When I went to the bar to ask for the bill and pay so that we could leave there were four other guests , from two tables that followed my lead and did the same because of poor service. The seafood platter...

Absolutely delicious Saturday lunch in a lovely atmosphere. We chose this pub as it was perfectly located for family from Buckinghamshire and Surrey to meet in the middle - and so glad we came to this charming, pretty place. Initially we were a bit taken aback as there was a very large family group seated next to our table of four and we couldn't hear a thing and food service started slow. The noise level thankfully fell and when the food came - my goodness did our sentiments turn around. We all loved our meals which were obviously fresh and from specially chosen produce as the website states. I had the steak ciabatta which sounds like a simple option but was mouthwateringly delicious with generous amounts of steak, whilst at the other end of the scale the birthday boy had a beef fillet special and was absolutely raving about it for the rest of the day. Those with burgers were very happy too. We sat at the dining room on the side - the booths at the front of the pub looking out the windows look gorgeous and next time I come back (and I definitely plan to) I will ask to sit at one of those. Thank you for a lovely lunch and looking forward to our...
