Booked the place for my Birthday and wetting the baby's head. Booked in advance for table of 15 did say it could possibly be 20, to which they wanted a £50 deposit on the phone. So I said I'd give £40. Guy said is it all lads where I said yes and wanted to make sure we don't get loud and that it is not jack's bar which I found quite judgmental.
Anyway turn up to the venue and when they knew we were a big group we had two tables not together but split up by the door, when most of the place was practically empty. Food that came out was ok abit over priced but not all that, when I had practically half a curry tipped all over my jeans, yes the waiter was apologetic and said she would get the group a free round of drinks, so I said instead of a round of drinks just do a bottle of vodka. So as I went to the bathroom to clean myself up the guy at the bar goes I'll pay for your dry cleaning or get you a drink of your choice. Which contradicts what the waiter said, I wasn't in the mood to argue so I just had the drink although my Boss jeans are bloody ruined.
We had a few vegiterians in the group and 1 vegan. Not much selection for vegans, and for the vegiterians he specifically went to the bar to order to his and said he has a nut allergies where the bar star goes no nuts in the foods. So my brother had a veg curry to find something was not right as he was getting an itchy throat and feeling short of breath to find some nuts in his mouth. Looked at the allergy chart supplied and then we question the bar staff who then said ohh there might be traces of nuts not that bothered to be fair while my brother's saying I think I need to get to a chemist and get an injection pen as he didn't have one on him. No consideration at the end asking if all was ok etc.
As we had a tab, we should have checked it to be fair but we didn't £500, where I had to mention I already paid £40.00 so that needed reducing of the bill. This should have been picked up strap ght away if you take deposits of people remember to deduct it of the final bill when asking for payment.
Nice surroundings, foods ok, over priced, and now kinda been there done that and think we would have had a better time...
Read moreDriven past this place several times and always wanted to try it as it looks great from outside so we booked a table for 2 on Sat 7th July for 7pm. Arrived well before time and was shown to our table. Our first impression was that the tables were very sticky. I don't know what they used to wipe them down but not off to a great start and for the prices - which were not extortionate but higher than the average, we were little surprised that they didn't offer table service. Anyway I ordered at the bar...a few poppadom's for starters, two main meals and drinks. The order was placed at 7.02pm by 7.20pm the starters had no arrived so 7.25pm we asked a server that came past and to be fair she apologised, said she would get them straight away and knock them (£3) off the bill. Now it wasn't packed in there, there were a good few customers but by no means would I say there were stretched. Anyway another 10 minutes later she brought them out...35 minutes to get poppadom's, so again not impressed. We finished them off and then expected out mans to follow shortly after. After another 30 minutes we got so fed up of waiting I again approached the bar and requested a refund due to lack of service, to which the bar person went to speak to someone then gave a full refund. I stood waiting for a moment and he said "anything else then?" I said an explanation or an apology would have been nice. I managed to get a reluctant "sorry" but not even an explanation or anything. To be fair they did give a full refund...even refunded the £9 for two coke zero's (yes £9 for 2 cokes!!) so can't fault that....But as for going back there No Way!! You only get one chance to make a first impression and Canalside,...
Read moreHad a meal with 3 other friends. I ordered a paneer and hallumi mixed grill, which should hv come with spring rolls, panner pakora, samosa, green stuffed peppers on a bed of onions on a sizzler plate. And a spicy rice, hallumi, panners with chilli sauce sizzler. The first meal came without the pakora's and stuff green pepper and red and yellow peppers instead. As soon as the food came out it the bottom layer of food was burned, not a little but total singed and uedible. Some of the cheese was also over done and hard. My other friends had a curry which they said was nice but the nan was also very burnt. The person who brought the food over asked if everything was OK. I said no and he replied what do u want me to do, to which I replied what do u think u should do? He went and told the chef and he brought out more cheese. We asked to speak with a manager and someone came over who wasn't even on shift and had a cold. She said she wasn't well but still sat down to look at the food. In the end the manager eventually came over and asked what was wrong. He was a little patronising with his comments saying that's what a sizzler looks like and it should burn. I said yeah burn a little but not be cremated. They offered us 10% off the bill but I said no it's not good enough. He then said he would take of the sizzler and basically begged us to come back if he gave us the discount. All I'm saying is I wouldn't go there for food ever...
