Possibly the worst dining out experience we could possibly have had. We went here (Cosmo Wolverhampton) as a treat for my daughter's birthday as we had previously had a good time at Cosmo in Derby. However, the labelling for all of the food at Wolverhampton is completely inaccurate. It's as though they had just randomly ticked loads of allergen boxes on all of the dishes. This meant that things that you would expect to have no allergens present (such as chips) supposedly had milk, eggs and shellfish in them, whereas a cake which had nuts sprinkled on top was not labelled as containing nuts! As two of our party were vegan and another has a nut allergy this made selecting anything to eat almost impossible. We could only find two dishes that appeared to be suitable for vegans and when we spoke to the manager for clarification we ended up with a very confusing story about them just ticking most of the things in case there is any cross contamination from the cooking area they are prepared in or by customers cross-contaminating dishes themselves when self-serving. It made absolutely no sense at all. He did, though, seem to confirm that the chips did actually have egg in them, which seemed very strange and then offered to get the chef to cook us some plain rice (the other rice apparently has ghee (butter) added to it). As there would have been nothing to eat with the rice we politely declined and got a refund for our meals. To top it all off, we had also paid for limitless soft drinks and when trying to get a lemonade from the machine we found that it was dispensing just fizzy water instead. Really, really poor all round and for anyone who actually is concerned with what is in their food (either has an allergy, specific dietary requirement or just wants to be informed about what they're being served) I would recommend giving this place a very wide berth. Don't be fooled by their website saying that there are options available for you, because at the Wolverhampton branch there aren't. I'd also suggest that Wolverhampton council's food safety team and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) should take a look at the labelling in place at the Wolverhampton Cosmo and advise them on labelling it in way that accurately reflects what is in the dishes rather than the seemingly very random labelling that is in place currently. As it is, it could be quite dangerous, particularly with products that contain nuts not being labelled as such, whilst nearly every other dish that doesn't contain certain ingredients is labelled...
Read moreI recently visited COSMO, a buffet restaurant that promises a wide array of dishes, and here's my take on the experience.
The ambiance at COSMO is modern and spacious, making it a comfortable place to dine. The staff were courteous and efficient, ensuring that tables were promptly cleared and the buffet stations were well-maintained throughout my visit. The variety of food offered is impressive, catering to diverse tastes. However, the overall quality of the dishes is fair at best. While some options, like the stir-fried noodles and roasted meats, stood out, many others, such as the salads and some side dishes, were rather bland and lacked freshness.
One of the major disappointments was the sushi. Given the popularity of sushi at buffets, I had higher expectations, but the sushi at COSMO fell short. The rice was poorly seasoned, and the fish lacked the fresh, delicate flavor that good sushi should have. It was clear that sushi is not the restaurant’s strong suit.
The price at COSMO is on the higher side for the quality of food provided. It feels a bit steep considering the fair quality of most dishes and the subpar sushi. There are other buffets in the same price range that offer better value for money.
Overall, COSMO is a decent choice if you're looking for a wide selection of food in a comfortable setting. However, if you’re a sushi enthusiast or seeking exceptional food quality, you might be left wanting. The high price point doesn't quite match the overall dining experience. With some improvements in the quality of their dishes, especially the sushi, COSMO could offer better value for...
Read moreWe did a walk in on a Sunday afternoon as we had a friend staying over for the weekend. We were allocated a table fast. Drinks server came in a reasonable time. So far so good. Overall the food is very good so cannot complain here.
However, the waiter tried to take our plates before we had finished. He’d actually got hold of my plate and I had to tell him I’m not done yet. Then we went to get our main course.
On the way back the waiter had taken the drinks from the table next to us. He too had gone to get his main course. The waiter didn’t apologise but came back with some drinks. Then we had the same waiter trying to get our main course plates before we had finished. We had to tell him to stop.
The food is very good here but there is a big problem in the waiters pushing you to finish your meal quickly. They don’t want you to eat too much either. We were told we had just 45 minutes to get our drinks and eat our meal. This is not enough time if you are entertaining guests.
Clearly run for profit. The service is extremely poor which is a shame as the food is very good and there is plenty of choice too. As we came close to finishing our pudding again we were rushed when the waiter tried to collect some plates without others finishing off. We won’t go again. They want your money but they want you out as quickly as you came in. The place wasn’t busy so there was no need to pressurise us in getting out.
Customers are treated very badly and this is purely down to profit and BAD management. We have been to much better Chinese buffets but this one is very poor. AVOID at...
