I have been coming here since I lived in Leicester st round the corner. That was 1981. More than 40 years. I have seen this place grow from a small shop to a nice restaurant. I have always been treated with respect by the original people but that has all changed. There's always that one individual that has to spoil it. A woman working behind the sweet counter whom I suppose is a daughter has an attitude problem. From her demeanour it is clear she is superior to most people especially me. She can't take a joke, and I believe doesn't like me speaking to her in Punjabi ..maybe I keep an open mind but it his clear from her revaya that I am beneath her which is not a good stance in trying to promote the business. Yesterday I ordered pakoras and samosas but some of them of them I wanted warming up so it meant splitting the 2 bags and this was a problem for her, a little extra work,an extra 30 seconds. There wasn't many people in the queue so I wondered why she was pulling a face. The usual guy (one of the sons) always called me uncle and likes to chat and has no problem warming up a samosa for me. But yesterday it was a problem and she's snapping at me which I pointed out to her. She didn't like me reminding her that I'm a customer and entitled to a little bit more respect than she was prepared to give. Indians from Punjabi are known for their respect for elderly people but this woman really let the side down. She became abusive and I wouldnt take it so others behind the counter joined in in the abuse and I told these ignorant people who were not aware of the facts to shut up and mind their own business. I left without my order and next time I pass and see the oldest son (retired )I'll tell him what happened, I know he wont be happy and will apologise . I feel sorry for those who have worked so hard to build this business over the years to see it ruined by...
Read moreI’ve been going for years and I’ve always loved their food I tend to pop in to the grab and go section to get lunch to warm up back home. It had been awhile since I’ve been in there, seems like there was some new faces too behind the till, didn’t look the happiest but I understand, it was busy, either way I spotted the tandoori chicken legs. They looked great although I could tell they’ve been sitting there for awhile and uncovered but just like most of the dishes they are all uncovered and just sit there all day so I thought nothing of it and i picked up some tender chicken to take home, after warming it up nice and hot I ate and everything seemed fine, until the following day, for the last 3days I’ve had S&D due to there chicken and I’ve been in severe pain with stomach cramps all throughout the day.
This is an absolutely great store and has been a backbone of the community for years, I think they should just really look into practicing food hygiene better to avoid issues like this happening to other customers as I can doubt I am the only one who has experienced something like this and then...
Read moreLove the food here as I have been coming here for years with my family. The somasas are the best and the onion bhaajis are the best when freshly made. Lately the food seems to be a lot hotter in taste which I don’t like as me & my family only like mild chilli in our Indian food!! Will consider boycotting this place if they continue to put extra chillies as they have lately. I spend approximately £50-75 a month here so please less chillies. The owners son is a lovely person as are most of the staff. Have been overcharged or given wrong change by the owners sons wife few times so not happy. She is rude and has no manners. Disappointed last time on one of my last visits when I asked for a box of mixed sweets and was given a mere 10 pieces of the poorest quality one. HIGELY DISAPPOINTED. Overall good...
