The Garden Bar - bilston After spending the last few months at previous rated establishments the gang decided this month to try somewhere new. Following on from reading previous reviews and looking at the menu the original destination was decided against and the The Garden Bar came in as a last minute substitution. We walked in and were welcomed by a pleasant and friendly barman who quickly got us served and seated at our table. The standard order was available so thats what i went for. Regular mixed grill - the fish pakora was top notch and id argue that its the best iv had. The rest of the grill however wasnt on par. No complaints about the meat as such but also nothing to shout home about. Chilli chips - i think with being spoilt with Cherrywoods chilli chips then anywhere we go they have a lot to live up to. Unfortunately these were poor. Not much taste to them and rather soggy towards the end. Massala sauce - very average as massala sauces go. Not much to go with. Was nice to dip in but not the best iv had Cheese garlic naan bread - we end on a very big high. Now that is how to do a cheesey garlic naan. For those who follow my reviews know that this is the big thing for me and this really hit the spot. Perfect cheese pull with no grease at all. And just enough garlic in it where its not over powering. All in all not a bad trip. As another member the group said it breaks into the top 10 but not the top 3 I will say for value for money it was very good. One of the cheapest iv been to. Would have a think about going back and maybe order something different. 7/10

First time eating here last night and overall, I really enjoyed it and definitely would be back! 😀 Great looking place, seems really family friendly and looks like a real hub for a diverse mix of people which is also great to see! The food was great! I was hungry but wanted to try a few things so I ordered the panko crumb prawns, fish pakoras, the sizzling lamb chops and fries (I was advised that the plates were small and was kinda persuaded to order an extra dish and chose calamari) really loved my food! The pakoras were light but meaty, and there was lots of them! Same with the prawns really, good portion and although the lamp chops were only 3 in number, they were really, really good!!! I was disappointed with the calamari and only finished a third of what seemed like 90 rings of it haha... For me it was really chewy and quite rubbery. I did make a note of informing the staff but was advised that they had changed suppliers and everyone else really likes it... So, maybe it's just me then 🤷🏾‍♂️ My friend had a paneer burger with chilli chips which she absolutely enjoyed too! 😀 The wait for food is long, really long lol... But, the food is fresh and really tasty so it is worth the wait I think. The service is also really slow, waiting for ages for someone to notice you need something and then ages to come back with it... So can't give them a five but I did enjoy my eve and I'd like to think I'd go back!

Had a mixed grill and Vindaloo. Arrived and found the restaurant cold. The mixed grill lacked flavour and was overcooked and dry. The kebabs were like out of a freezer and the lamb chops were dry and chewy. The grill platter was sparse and there were no chicken wings. We pointed this out and they came out later but again they were dry. Apparently their regular chef has left them which may explain the poor quality. For the amount of money we spent, the quantity of food was small compared to comparable places. We had arrived just after they opened but found the outside smoking area had a lot of litter on the floor and the ashtrays were full. There was no excuse for this because the staff behind the bar were clearly just standing around. When leaving, I visited the toilet but found non of the taps worked. The staff asked me to use the disabled toilets but the hand dryer did not work here. We have driven past many times and have seen a busy car park but from our experience we can not understand why. My wife told me that the ladies toilet was also not maintained with empty glasses and bottles, toilet paper all over the floor and sink. This was despite her visiting the toilet minutes...
