worked at this establishment with my partner Simon, who took on the license. We initially thought the owner was a friend, but once we opened, we were forced to hire staff that we neither wanted nor needed. It quickly became clear that we’d have to pay these staff members out of our own 20% wage share, which amounted to £1,000. Trying to pay ourselves and three other staff members out of that was simply not feasible. To make matters worse, we didn’t have the property above, which wasn’t factored into any of the arrangements. We eventually decided to leave because we were not willing to be taken advantage of. My partner worked for four or five months while the place was closed, coordinating with contractors and tradespeople, opening and closing late for them with minimal pay during that time. During the 10 days the place was open, Simon worked between 48-58 hours but has never been paid for his time. He also paid another staff member's wages out of pocket, which he has yet to be reimbursed for. While the place does look great in some areas, the lack of proper fire doors (the back door is literally drilled shut), and other safety concerns are alarming. I visited Rocket Pool in August for the first time, as I wasn’t able to make the opening weekend but wanted to see the renovations. The refurbishment looked nice. Clearly can’t handle customers complaints as I have been banned from ordering anything else from here on just eat. Just one question for these guys.
