The Strand Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Worthing

I’ve not tried this fish and chip shop before so I thought I’d give it a try.

It appears they have a good selection of things to choose from on their menu.

However, standing in the queue for a 5 minutes, I noticed a small sign saying ‘cash only’.

Now, I’m all in support for using cash where possible, however I usually use Apple Pay, I was unable to stay in the queue and had to leave. I heard a couple behind me say ‘oh it’s only cash’ and they left also.

To this, I had to get back in my car and order through the Deliveroo app, to then go back into the store to collect.

Surely, this isn’t the best for the business as Deliveroo takes a percentage? It all seems back to front. Not sure if they don’t want to pay to use a card machine or it was broken, I have no idea.

Anyways, upon picking up the food, it tasted lovely, but I asked for regular chips but I received a very small portion.

Overall, it wasn’t the best experience, fairly stressful to get a portion of fish and chips, I would most likely use another chip shop in future to save the hassle.

Side note: they do offer a gluten free option...

I have visited with my wife & son several times now when Worthing Thunder, our awesome local basketball team, have played a home game & the food is outstanding!! The cod is delicious, not oily but perfectly crisp, moist meat & the chips are spot on. The huge variety, not to mention the different types of chicken burger & wraps are by far & away, the best I have tasted from any fish & chip shop.

The establishment is always spotlessly clean & the staff, very friendly. I don't know the owners name but he always makes a point of saying goodbye & thank you to every customer, whether he has served them or not.

Many fish & chip shops could learn alot from these guys as they have nailed the basics & added so much more to the concept. I am going there straight after I have finished this review in fact!!...

It was my birthday 🎂 yesterday and my request was a day at West worthing Beach (nice and quiet) and fish and chips on my lap watching the tide come in....so both happened....we had to Google a fish and chip shop and came across this little gem......I LOVED it and other half equally impressed....he even ate the batter which I've never seem him do....large haddock and reg chips for me (fish was not "woolly "..firm creamy flakes ......he had a large local caught Huss....and reg chips...i had the perfect simple day and my experience of this fish and chip shop made it the icing on the cake....ill forgive the lack of gravy ....so had a pickled onion ....Joy x x thank you Strand Fish and chips for making my 52 birthday complete ....im.now nursing a...
