Larry's Better Burger Drive-In — Restaurant in Abilene

I was honestly so prepared to love this place. An Abilene institution, beloved through generations, etc. But we were so disappointed by the food. While I appreciate that the prices are so cheap because the portion sizes are smaller, I wasn't really expecting only 2oz. of meat when I ordered a small burger (90% bun and veg). My mistake, I guess. But nothing seemed seasoned with salt or pepper, be it the beef or the onion rings we got on the side. Best burger in Abilene and the price you can't beat it. Meat had nice flavor, cheese wad melted, veggies were crisp with a great crunch. The only thing I would recommend is adding a second patty for more optimal bun to meat ratio. The onion rings are practically an experience! The batter is crispy with great flavor the onion inside nice and tender. Try the chili cheese dog, yes the chili has beans in it but man oh man is it a great flavor. We received 2 burgers with cheese, a side of fries, a side of onion rings and a chili cheese hot dog. It was only just over 15 bucks! Can't beat that! It really is like a step back in time. I was just passing through and saw this place on my Google Maps app and stopped here. The food was outstanding and all of the people, especially Larry himself, were very cool. After eating I got the pleasure of personally talking to Larry and showing him the restaurant list on my app and making Larry aware that his food joint was the highest rated eating place in Abilene. He was thoroughly surprised but I told him he shouldn't be because his food is awesome. He said he's been in business for over 47 years and I told him that this place is living proof that if it's not broke don't fix it. This was an awesome experience....
